the way you made this water is interesting, it looks simple to make but i have drawn water and it i usually have to concentrate quite a bit. also, overall, i like the way you render things with such simplicity, like the way you portrayed many peolpe with a collection of circles, nice work!

Smuli: Thanks for the comment regarding the rider. Yeha the yellow spot, I clearly screwed it up. It's supposed to be the breath of the horse but clearly it's not reading as such.
Either I find away to make it look like misting breath or off it goes.ä
    Thanks again.

    Hans Mothander: Thanks man!

    Warburton: Thanks!

Suncut: Thankyou so much for your C&C on the rider piece. I can see what you mean, and it's something I really need to look into. Overall I feel like the saddle and the lower half of of the knight is too poorly defined so it looks...just weird.

Denzel: Oh dear, I believe I have just failed big time. Those waves are actually supposed to be rocky outcrops/ lava fields. I can clearly see why they read as waves though. Lots of ill defined shapes with zig-zagging brush strokes.

Lionheart: Thanks, That's a good idea.

FUSHANDCHUPS: Thanks. It has potential I think, but it needs some tweaking and planning I think.

Very quick Remington study. I'm loving hes works, especially the night scenes. Such great mood/atmosphere, use of values etc.

Just can't get enough of your brushstrokes.
I like these Remington studies. Haven't really get known to Remington yet, but I feel like I really need to now.

Satu: Thanks! You definately should. I feel like there's plenty of things to learn from Remington.

    Just doodles.

I'm not a cartoonist and have really no ambitions in that area, but I have become quite interested about shapes, designs and stylization.
I feel like there's some interesting lessons to be learned there.

Looks like you´re having fun with the exaggerated shapes and stylization! Especially the bird and the helmet designs. Great stuff.
I really like the look and simplification of a lot of animation production work for example. They have a lot of dynamic angles and stuff in their shapes.

I feel like there's some interesting lessons to be learned there.
This may sound far fetched but Mike Mattesi talks about "force lines" and "forceful shapes" in his book "Force - Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators". The ideas he teaches about capturing "force"/rhythm in shapes as well as figures could be a very useful asset in designing shapes for instance (and indeed he's worked for Disney). In his drawings it makes a lot more sense than written down, so take a look at the short videos his blog at http://forceddesign.blogspot.fi/ , though those shor vidos show only a fraction of the wisdom there is in that book. Thought I'd mention it because your shapes in 728 (except for the eagle head) seem to lack some of the tension that could be had by arranging opposite curves so that they have what Mattesi calls a "road of rhythm".

I really like the Indian rider study, hope to see more updates soon.

I like your Sargent study. I did a few of those too but yours is clearly better. Jealous! Nice job

You have a good sense for lighting, and your paintings give me the impression they are done quickly or effortlessly. Not to say they actually are "effortless", but they give off that feeling if it makes sense, maybe natural is a better word?

Have you done a lot of traditional painting? Because that comes through all of your digital stuff. I keep going back and looking through your older pages, I really like your sketchbook.

    Thanks for sharing

    Yemi: Thanks man

Wholewheat: Thanks! I have actually done only relatively little of traditional painting. What I have done instead is plenty of master studies, especially Sargent, and I think that is where I have picked up sort of painterly style. I love studying and deconstructing Sargents works. Every single one is a real challenge but there's always something new to learn.

Speaking of which, another Sargent study.

Hey, I really enjoyed seeing the progression of your 697 - 702 piece. You made the right corrections, seeing one's own mistakes and beign able to correct them is an aptitude a lot of artists lack so good job. This last page is also looking good, nice Sargent studies, they have a soft feel to them, I use much harder brushes for mine .
