Hello Durrell! Fine ink and wash figures you have on your second page, i really like them! The atmosphere they have is really nice. Also, thank you for posting the steps for that cast shadow study. The sketching and the rendering is nice to observe. However, i like the step before the final step more. It has atmosphere and better depth than the last one. Why?-Because I think the last would need more hard edges. As it is, it looks like you tried blending in some parts, and didn't came out to well. That is just how i read it.
Nice job with the tones though!

On the first page i see a lot of pencil work, really nice! You have strong, confident linework. I really like it. I consider them to be far superior to your digital stuff as it is now. Some of the images were really small. You can make them a lot larger, it won't matter! Each sketchbook page has 30 posts, and it doesn't matter how many or how big images you upload. But on the other hand, it would be better to see the drawings larger. Let us appreciate your work properly!

Also, thank you for your visit in my sketch book. I'll be sure to take one still life at a time. I want to do them properly. I also see you have started a sketch of a still life. Is it from life? Perhaps we shall do it parallel, and we can give crit on each other.

Keep posting and keep putting pencil to paper!

keep going in the direction you are, there is a vast improvement between your first page and second, faces are looking more correct and the value studies will come in handy. Once you start to notice your studies aren't improving on a particular subject then move onto something different but do one or two of your last subject studies to make sure your not forgetting it during each session. You don't want to study male faces then start on horse then go back to faces after drawing lots of horse for example and suddenly realise you can't draw faces again.

BlackDelphian - Thanx, and I do agree that I am far more confident with a pencil than a stylus. I still very much a beginner with the digital medium. Also I had a very hard time posting images on here at first, so that is why a lot of those pages were very small. As far as the still goes, I took a photo of that in my room, but I've been very unfocused to get to work, and yes we could soon share are still life works with each other.

Sweet! Then I should be picking one of my still life and start the sketch already.
Regarding yours, did you check the perspective? The box seems on a different plane than the glass.
And about the glass leg, i don't know if that is just some highlight lines, but if it's the actual leg,
then i'd say the upper part is solid looking, but that part is not. Try looking at it more carefully.
Or then again, be careful not to change the angle you look at it.

Awesome variation of shape! They are readable and tell a lot about each personality.
Except for the one in the lower left corner. I'm not sure what's that on her head. Hood?

I'd like to see you do more of these. There's already something quite unique hatching stylistically in these. I think you can develop that style and really make it flourish across your work.

Those last ones are showing a fair bit of character. Maybe try drawing each of them again and focus solely on exaggerating and/or refining proportions.

Update on the still! Yey! Looking good. Pay good attention to your edges,
whether they are soft or hard. Will you be doing it in colours afterward?

I'd love to see how you develop that style.

The last study's looking good, I get the impression you learned a lot from it. Just be careful on the perspective on the top of the cup/glass/thingy.

Since I got a couple of commisions coming up, I'll most likely have to squeeze in some more studies in the next couple of weeks or so. Thanks for the compliment. I will pay more attention to my soft and hard edges though. As far as #103, I strecthed the jaw a lil too much.

I don't think the jaw is to much stretched, although comparing it to the small chin.. i don't know, that area just isn't right.
