    Short on time again =(

Around 30 mins today, usually spend just over an hour per portrait.

A little tip to whoever might read this who is having trouble drawing faces, try and work on the face as a whole. I have this bad habit of leaving the eyes till the end, and then they end up looking dumb like these.

I started this straight in colour. No black and white mock up first. I even suprised myself tonight, I didnt think I was capable of this so im kinda happy. Still not perfect though (I hate doing eyes!!) but this is probably closest yet.

Any thoughts or advice which can help me get beter? I'm open to any comments or feedback no matter how harsh they may be so please feel free to share your feelings.

theres not a great deal wrgon with these, i like the colours on 11/02. with the eyes, study how much of the circular iris is cut off at the top and bottom, this is a very important part of expression. Someone whos full fo adrenaline, or looking down at you, will have a white space above their iris, making their eyes look wide and staring. someone whos sleepy will have much of the top halfcut off, and look drowsy, etc

Also, in relation to what Velocity Kendall said, I thought i'd try something abit different. Still abit screwed up but I lol when I finished this.

Tonight I tried to be more delibrate with my colour. Cold light, warm shadows. Think it worked..

Also, I managed to fuck up the eyes again. Kinda annoying

Tomorrow I do lots of eye studies in my sketchbook...

Ill try and get them scanned and show them on here.

Might be me being overly ambitious or critical but i don't feel i'm progressing fast enough, so i'm going to up my daily homework. One portrait a day and AT LEAST one page of traditional studies (whether it be anatomy, portraits, still life animals, whatever).
I'll try to post my sketchbook stuff each weekend instead of everyday because I currently dont have a scanner
    Thanks for viewing my progress!

Exon-Ion Thanks for the encouragement man, its greatly appreciated
Also, LOTS of traditional stuff on there way soon. Thanks for the tip.

Bad news. The pen with my tablet broke today, so my digital art is out the window till I get it replaced

Also, I dont have a scanner so its a real pain in the ass to get my traditional stuff onto this thread...

Still doesnt stop me from doing my portraits though, i'll prob upload the weeks on friday or saturday until i get my tablet sorted (R.I.P wacom bamboo)

Been a while since I did some pencil stuff, and to be honest, i'm really not feeling it. Not only is my pencil stuff really crappy but I struggle to get into it =/

(Also, I think its worth pointing out I drew this on a angle, and when I came to look at it straight on, it looked stretched. oops lol.)

Heres todays crappy attempt anyways, any suggestions, crits etc etc as always, are greatly appreciated

Velocity Kendall Thanks alot man, your advice on the eyes helped me alot with that one. And thanks also for visiting my sketchbook again.

Ive been doing traditional stuff which ill scan in tomorrow over the week ive been away from this sketchbook. It still kinda sucks and i find it hard to get into pencil drawing. Kinda feels to restricting, maybe ive been spoilt by photoshop

Anyways, i got a new tablet so my digital paints are back. (Ill continue with the traditional stuff also).

    Peace
