    caricature/illustration

I'm a caricature artist for Kaman's at Canada's Wonderland. I will be attending OCAD(illustration) in the fall.

I hope that you take the time to enjoy these daily studies and maybe even leave a comment/crit or two while you're here.

I'm making an effort to study equally from life from other artists and from imagination in each area of study. I feel that this is the best way to learn.

Since there are seven days in the week, I've simplified my training regimen into seven categories:

    Cartooning
    Animals
    Characters
    Back Grounds
    Story
    Figure/Anatomy
    Colour

For comics and caricature this is sufficient for the time being. I'm looking forward to taking film and sculpture courses in addition to what I'm already doing.

I think they look pretty good. The last drawing looks a little stiff. I really like the second drawing though. What kind of shading is that called?

Thanks for the tip peroro. The shading is just decorative hatching, you'll notice that it doesn't really follow the form at all, it's used more as a design element(sometimes more successfully than others.)

you've got nice studies, I like volumes in dogs "cartoon" studies.

You posted drawings in the section "drawing from the mind" I think you must take care about legs length...they are a bit too long, in fact pelvis is at the middle of the body...look more specially at the 3rd character.

This is the correct length of the legs. The Symphysis Pubis(Crest of the Pelvis) should be seen halfway down the figure standing upright. I've attached the Andrew Loomis and Jack Hamm proportion charts which show this exactly.

Are you sure its not the volume of the legs? Or the space that they're taking up in the picture? In combat poses, athletes often have a wide base, so maybe this looks strange...

There are several proportion mistakes, i talked about the one I think the most important for the moment and more specially for the 3rd character For the one legs are quite long.

They had really fun faces, and I like the lighting in this sketch. It's not often that I get to show sculptural form like this at work.
