hi, looking at your progress.
On the figure drawing stuff try to use simple cylinders, cones, cubes to define the placement, proportions, pose.

I haven't posted here in a while. Summer vacation kept me busy with other things than painting.
Now I'm back at school, working and it's time to be productive again. I'll start off by an older piece which I've finally picked up again recently and finished just tonight. Enjoy!

EoW in progress.
It always amazes me when you see people like yourself who come so far in such a short space of time. Keep up the good work![]()
Completed my first E.O.W entry. 'Guerilla nest in the jungle'
![]()
Very nice Mila, this latest EOW seems serene but something sinister lurks there for purposes of warfare. I like the contrast of light and darker colors and the fact that the tents look quickly made in a realistic makeshift guerilla scenario. War in the jungle - always on the move. Good stuff and thanks a lot for the topic this week!
Keep doing you

Hey Vulgar! Glad you took the time to comment on my entry in my own sketchbook. I really appreciate that. As for the topic suggestion; I'll pitch in some more next time!
logistic puppet Thanks a lot.
Today: Worked on the 'Dawn' piece again. Still somewhat clueless as to what to do with it. I was thinking about adding a small to somewhat large town in the center. As of now it's still to stretched out. I'd hate to fill it with spaceships and such.. Oppinions and critique would be much appreciated !
and finally a study: an hour or two'ish. I realised I need to stop fiddling around with details and shorten my work proces.

Nice work man, good enviro design, some real life studies will help your colouring a lot!
Good stuff man! Seeing alot of progress during the last few pages
I wouldn't worry too much about shortening your work process as you said. Speed comes with practice. Try to do studies while just focusing on certain things, ie. values, details, color etc. without using so much time on the other things. I think it's generally better to choose a subject to study and stick to it during the whole painting.
As for details goes, I generally try to spend long time on just the big shapes and the largest areas in the painting before going to the details. I usually fail at this horribly though.
Keep up the good work!

Phew, what a night. Spending my time with friends, listening music, having a laugh and a few bowls really triggered my inspiration and productivity
Got some new stuff ! First of all I'd like to thank ...
AlexTooth : I was planning to do some more photo ref studies, but you're right about the real life studies. It's time I do more of that instead of looking at photo's. Glad you commented on my sketchbook!
Kvenh Hey man good to see you here again. As for details go; I love doing them but I often also have to remind myself to stick to the big shapes first. Thanks for your comment :]
First, my EoW entry for this week. Hidden submarine base under iceberg.
Then two version of a painting I have been working on for some time no. Both ideas really spoke to me, so I found myself happily working on both at the same time. I remember seeing a technique being shown similar to this and I guess it really works well this way for me.
I'll finish these up tomorrow. Critiques are very much welcome.
Thanks.
Update.
Nice work! #122 has a really nice atmosphere - keep it up !
Fun stuff lately- haven't had a hand at 3D in a while- maybe I'll have a go.
Your newest stuff is really showing your improvement, The polar bear is awesome.
Great work![]()
Rhubix You should totally try 3D. I find it hard every time, trying to remember how it worked again. I think I'll just stick to drawing and painting. Thanks for the kind words!
lohes Thank you.

Okay, finished EoW today. I'm sort off happy where it turned out.
Then I also decided it was time to seriously sit down and finish 'The Return'.
Sorry for the frequent updates on the same pic! Time to move on I'd say.

Nice enviroment, the waterfall was a good addition i see you're using the same base again and again, is there a reason for this?
I like your EOW, it really has a sense of deep under water and the coloring and lighting makes sense. The wreck framing the scence is a good touch.
The house is crazy!!!! Love it! Good studies on forms and perspectives keep it going! In my experience I think drawing humans as blocks and shapes is the best study!

Nice enviro work, Mila - you're improving a lotKeep studying other artists and pushing yourself, you'll be really amazing in no time at all!
SGoodson - Thank you. The reason I used the same base image was to try different ideas and moods.
krypt You mean the house at the very first page? Thanks! It's so old... haha. But looking back, I realise I should start doing more pencil work again. I think I shall completely start over with Ctrl-Paint Unplugged.
AlexTooth Thanks for commenting on my sketchbook again. :] I appreciate it.
This image below is for a school assignment. We are to paint from an exsisting picture and fill in whatever we want. I guess this is my first matte painting with real photo ref.. so far I'm liking it.
Now that looks like a fun assignment! looking good so far, I like that you've manipulated the scale but if you want to sell it I'd suggest a couple of figures on fishing boats etc,render cliff face on the right as a more solid structure with surface texture rather than a pile of rocks. the leaves in the bg are gonna be an issue scalistically{is that even a word?}
Hey Michiel i hope the paintings coming along nicely, post a wip so we can see.
Sgoodson Going slow but fine! Thanks for asking! ( Busy busy busy )
Here's a quick post with the matte-painting assignment that I finished. Will most more later!
