keep going!
Hi there V
I loved that clarkesworld thingy you found, and " John Carpenter's film "the Thing" is one of my all time favourite films. Being a geek I also feel the need to point out that I think the quote goes :-
"I realise you gentlemen have been through a lot. But if its all the same to you, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter, TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!"
My other fave quote would be from the bit where its assimilating the dogs :
one guy runs up to anothe guy hiding outside the dog pen and says
"What is it?"
the other guy replies in a frightened voice "I don't know but its weird and pissed off whatever it is!" ha ha ha ha classic!
Sorry to hear about your split by the way mate, thats rough and rather depressing.
I have some advice for you though, when some idiot says "never mind there are plenty more fish in the sea!"
you need and instant comeback and that is "yeah youre right mate, but who wants to fuck Nemo!?"
I hope I raised a smile! All the very best to you mate.

Beautiful Sargent studies!
I too like the painting of the girl with the paper.Very beautiful stuff.
Wow, Lots of really nice work in here. I think I spotted a concept car for motorstorm a few pages back. And some of the enviros I get a sci fi book cover impression. The angular lines remind me of some of the perspective and shapes syd mead used.
Your luxury jet design are very chic still, I enjoy coming back to look at them

Nice! Master studies are where its at! I wouldn't know a damn thing about charcoal drawing if it weren't for copying guys like sargent... or Ivor Hele (the post-war drawings of his wife are sublime! http://illustrationart.blogspot.com/...part-four.html ) If you want some great ref photos, the National Gallery lets you zoom in real close to see the brushstrokes. http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/artists/
Aww damn and your cars from a couple pages back are so sweet to! Loving everything as usualCheers!
Hello!
Sorry for not checking in, i been super busy
Colin
Dude those links are amazing. Willem Kalf's still life with the lobster is one of the greatest things ive ever seen, and zooming in makes it even more so. WOW!
Hele is a different kind of wow. Im definitely starting think if i had the money i could sit around drawing women forever and never be bored.
You draw people in the most amazing way so its encouaging to hear this is a good way to learn..
Matt
Definitely man. Im going to try some more difficult ones I think. Some of Sarge's street scenes are on the list. Each one is really tricky but afterward my hand seems looser. Its definitely helped with real work too.
I think ive got shapes pretty well under control, you know, if this thing is here then this thing goes here and things look about right.. but colours... hopeless... it bothers me
Pavel Ah thankyou, i remember you liked them. Im still getting nibbles about them but nothing ever seems to happen. Shouldnt mind doing some more soon.. cheers for having a look!
Seagulls
You are double right! I love old sf book covers and Syd mead both! I also really liek your work.
VoodooMama thankyou so much!
Lightship, that made me lol. Glad you liked that story. I wrote him and said i thought it was aces and he wrote back and said thanks! nice guy.
If you liked that, check out Ted Chiang, his shit is doooooope.

Hi, sir! Your works push me to think whether you're an inteligent instrument or something. Human being? No way!
Loving the texture on that last digital, and the colours that thing you do with your lines in the sketching stage looks really interesting, I almost wish the end product was a bit looser like the early sketches, but it definitely is ten steps higher than anything I can do right now.
Ah, and I keep waiting for more of those crazy environments, they're bloody brilliant. Keep up the good work, mate.

Excuse me! the unhuman image of yourself is set up by your effort purely. So don't blame on or give vent to others, especially me... I respect and worship the truth. A kind person should be just anyways! Now make your first step, buddy. Tell me what you are going to do with us...
Sober up and maybe Ill tell you (:

niiiice man, the unicorn planes are sweeetgood work in one hour!
The quote about originality is very interesting.
I've said that your abstract architecture is quite mind boggling (in a fantastic way), now I'm fascinated about the contrast between your professional work and personal work.
Maybe you've answered this before, but would you please care to share your thoughts about the disparity between your different 'modes' of work?
Are the abstract works simply a means for you to get away from work? Or perhaps is it the next step in your artistic endeavour, much like artists such as Picasso et al, who grew weary of representational art?
Thanks.
Btw, What's going on with this untier guy, lol?
Is that really too much?? Didn't I act like an admirer? I was just going to enliven the atmosphere. And I'm absolutely attracted by velocity's works. That's all!
Boom! That's awesome! 'Unicorn planes' absolutely. Tell me you did that from reference and didn't just whip it up out of your head. Thumbs up!
60mins? wat a boss.
damn dude, nice to see so much experimentation and play. your eow was badass, btw. keep kickin ass!

thankyou! tough question. im doing a lot of that kid of architectural work and cars for games now so i guess work and leisure stuff are kind of blending, although i still try and find time to drawmy own stuff so this sb doesnt completely die.. i dont have any plan but i get bored quite fast and see a lot of cool stuff i want to try so i guess it results in a pretty random approach! i have huge respect for Picasso, his formal stuff is so choice. i do find work has a positive impact on personal stuff, like it makes you a lot more confident and forces you to practice. id be interested to know your own thoughts on this re. your own work.
re untier, i have no idea, he seems harmless!
played around with this some more
