beautiful enviros, I especially like third one from first post, astonishing! Studies look promising: on the first one nostril seems pulled tad too much from cheek and overall shape of nose, mainly in os nasae area is bit off. Gentleman on second one looks good but somewhat flat- more value would fix that. Third one on the other hand is great, you managed to pull the shapes really well!

I hope that helps, and good luck with new ones, keep em coming!

voxmortem: thx, you are right i definitely have to work on her nose!

did one quick study from photo (45 min) before sleep
painted in mypaint (cool open source painting tool, only color picking lags a second or so behind...) because i have only linux at home...

Hey daflom, great start to your sb! Keep at that bouguereau study, you will learn a ton from studies like that I think a lot of your enviros have a lot of promise and I can tell you enjoy doing them. If I could offer some feedback on them, I would say use larger brushes while painting. That will help to keep focused on the whole composition, and then you can pick and choose which areas to refine in order to control the viewer's eyepath/ the focus of the image. Hope that makes sense. Keep working and let's see some more updates!

Really into the cityscape in post 6!

Hi there, you're doing really good on those studies-the skin tones don't seem that off at all in your bouguereau study, perhaps a bit more saturated yellowish green in the neck area..and hands, in the mid ton shadow areas.

I also really like the 3rd enviro on your first post. The colors and contrast really make it stand out nice!

The colors in your Bourgereau study look so close to the original... Are you "seeing" these or are they color-picked from the photo? My tries with color-guessing are not so good ;-)
It took me like three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip. It's probably the best drawing I've ever done.

My sketchbook (it'll get good near the end)

janit: no i don't pick the colors from the original. its really hard to find the right color but i hope i'll get much out of it...
for a few days now i'm using the magic color picker which is a ps plugin and it helped me a lot in this color finding process. its basically the corel painter color wheel for ps.i can really recommend it.

    some pencil studies from yesterday:

glad your not colour picking! - I did that when is started digital painting - made it easier but you don't learn as much >.< - So its good just to start off the bad getting the colours yourself.

    Love the enviros!

You have a very calm aesthetic. I feel like I can breathe in here. It's refreshing

Do you do traditional as well? I would love to see some.

Great study man! Of course it's not perfect, but it's pretty close. You did an excellent job, especially with the color and tonal matching.

    Hello there, daflom!
I'd like to thank you for your comment on my sketchbook.
By looking at your works I can tell that you've got really amazing hand for enviro. Those look really nice. If it comes to anatomy (bougureau study for instance) I'm seeing some little problems with proportions, but overall it's amazing start (many much'es better than mine!).
