Nice progress ! I think that you should try some gesture drawings(very simple and quick sketches meant to grasp the structure of something like a head or a body) to train your form. You could maybe try to draw some faces without shading them at all, just to train your line quality.

DeviousMeerkat: Thanks for the comment! I do sometimes do those quick gesture-type sketches, but you're right I've been slacking in that area lately.

On another note: I am officially going to SCAD Savannah! (I'm excited)

My advice would be to work on getting a cleaner line on those studies, you see a curve, try and draw that curve in one go. The more you do it the better you'll get as well as the quicker and cleaner your lines will be

keep up it up man, no slowing down now!

Hey you seem to be covering quite a few areas, you are doing really good. Just keep drawing and drawing. The more you draw the better you get! My only recommendation for you right now is to start practicing drawing two dots and make a single line hit them with one stroke. Sounds boring but do it everyday and you will start to see an improvement in your line quality. Also, hit up that perspective son!!! I mostly say that because im addicted to perspective right now and you would love the results that come for studying it! Keep up the good work!

    First College Project!

Joe777k7: Thanks for your comment and suggestion! I will definitely start practicing that exercise, and if you guys wonder why random lines start appearing in my sketchbook, that's why

Here's my first official college still life/ project in general, done in charcoal using the subtractive method.

Hey great update!!! Its cool to see you still pushing through your studies! I would suggest with those straight lines in to get ahold of some cheap copy paper and fill up a page a day like this one i attached. Make them about two inches apart. This is a page that i do everyday since i started doing my perspective studies back in June. It pays off great in building some muscle memory and starts to allow you to draw more loose and freely and make better confindent lines. I also noticed that drawing in pen helps with confindence as well because it trains you not to mess up and therefore your speed in drawings start to increase and you become more aware and caring of the line quality you make. I still work in pencil alot still though, but i do do alot in pen for now. Im about to do some building perspective studies this week, im using pencil for those lol. Just not 100 % on my drawing lines for buildings yet. I might give it a try though. I like to draw with the prisamcolor makers first and then ink. That always lead to a sweet result. I like to use either a 10% or a 30% cool grey markers then ink it with a Hi-tech C 0.4 pen. Keep up the great work and i look forward to seeing more.

Pathetically small update...I'm too busy working on stuff for my art classes to sketch as much as I want...didn't see that one coming.

I realized that I haven't been doing nearly enough figure drawing recently, so I practiced drawing 30 and 60 second poses from posemaniacs, and they actually turned out embarrassingly bad. Just means I have to work harder.
