...anyone know how to adjust the sizes? =P
You can resize them in Photoshop (I think it is something like Image>Resize>Image Size or something).
Not a bad start you have here if these are your first pieces in Photoshop. Since you asked for advice I would say to avoid soft edged brushes for now. They are harder to describe form with and leaves edges messy and soft (such as in the second picture).
I would also recommend studying from reference (whether it be from life or a photo). Both of your portraits are suffering from many basic mistakes in construction and proportion, and working from reference will help to fix these problems as you learn the layout of the face. You can also work in black and white for now to better show the forms of the face as these are a little flat looking.
Anyways, keep posting and you will improve really fast. You are also still in high school (I am too) which helps, so if you keep it up you will be great!

thanks for the help! these pieces were more about learning how to handle photoshop's coloring/shading tools then actually creating a structurally accurate face, I'm not going to lie I kind of rushed through the outline part to get to the shading. oops =P anyway here's the re-sized images.

here is an old sketch I had lying around on a flashdrive
i sincerely apologize for the bad quality, the scanner im forced to work with is terrible, but these are sketches I did working from Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life. I will be posting a lot more soon.

This next barrage of sketches is a lot more imaginative. The first one is a sketch of me (from the bathroom mirror,) the second picture is just a random made-up charcoal face, the third and fourth are more imagination drawings, the fifth picture has sketches I did from one of poussin's paintings, and all the rest of the pictures are sketches from my head (except for the last one, which is a pseudo-copy of the cover page of a book I like called "The Name of the Wind".)
I'm not going to post this much at once regularly, the only reason I've done so this time is to put up some of the older sketches I have lying around in various sketchbooks. Now that I'm all caught up these updates should be a little less intimidating.![]()

Hey there,
Thanks for visiting my sb mate and for the tips. I appreciate it.
I see you have an interesting SB here. Its seems you have a good attention to detail, which is great ( esp #8 and #11). Well, I strongly recommend doing anatomy studies and i see you have it going. well done. Here are some books i recommend.
Andrew Loomis books - esp Drawing Heads and Hands
Bridgman's Complete Guide To Drawing From Life
Human Anatomy for Artists by Elliot Goldfinger
If you study hard and practice everyday youll improve rapidly. Keep updating your SB daily if possible. Itll be a good motivation for you to keep drawing. Hard work matters more than anything.
Keep it up mate and good luck. Ill visit you later.

Thanks a lot for your comment! I already have 1 out of the 3 books you've mentioned, the Bridgeman one, and I'll definitely look around for those other two.

Hey ezekrialase, thanks for visiting my sketchbook and leaving some encouraging wordsIt's always appreciated.
Things are looking good in your sketchbook. Those Bridgeman studies look FANTASTIC. And it looks like you are updating quite regularly, which means you are working hard.
If you can, I would also grab Loomis' "Drawing Heads and Hands", because from the looks of your sketchbook, it seems like you really gravitate towards portraits and faces and things. This Loomis book will help you immensely as it has all sorts of information on all the head proportions, and simple strategies to tackling the common problems that arise when diving into portraiture.
I'll subscribe to your thread so that I can check back in on you when you make some more updates, feel free to do the same with mine!
Also, if you want to subscribe to other people's threads who are looking for some studying partners, check out this thread:

thanks a lot for the comments and advice! I've heard a lot about Andrew Loomis and his books, so I'll definitely check around my local bookstore for it. That thread link is interesting thanks for posting it!

I consider studying together if we visit each others
sketchbooks and exchange our thought on a daily or
weekly basis. The most important in all this is to stay active.
You do not have to go to the bookstore to start Loomis,
you have a bunch of free e-books online, so you could
start there.
Visit the very first post in my sektchbook and cool your
fingers down on some nice link collection.
huge update! a lot of graphite/ ink sketches. It's kind of a mix between studies and random imagination drawings, and no I didn't draw all of this today. Some of it is old stuff I decided to put up, so please sit back and enjoy!![]()

Hey there,
You are working hard i see. Superb! I like most of the new sketches. Good details and stroke patterns. But do more anatomy studies as they should be the top priority. Do not forget to construct your own style of drawing, slowly.
Well keep up the hard work mate. Ill visit later. Just wanted to wish you a Happy New year. Hope you enjoy!!![]()

Good start i´m using brigdman book too you are getting well the expression on the faces keep going
Hey, you have some great studies going on here, and a great start to the imaginative work. I love the lizardy ink drawings - very cool design. And I recognized The Name of the Wind!
A couple things I noticed - your studies feel like they have volume to them, but a lot of the imaginative work falls more flat, maybe from the more uniform lines, maybe from most being at a front-on or side view. Some more 3/4 views might shake things up a bit. Quick studies for lighting might help, too. Use all that Bridgeman you're learning!![]()
The woman in #25 has some good volume, though, and I think some of the best line quality of the lot. Keep it up!
Thanks for passing by my sketchbook a while ago ^^
Good Bridgeman studies, man, not much to say, draw every day,
and keep it up! =D
