    Tricky Ben's Sketchbook

So I'm trying to become a Concept Artist and Character Modeler
I have little to no experience in either, but hell, its not like I care
    I have Pencils
    I have Paper
So all those overwhelming odds against success can suck it!

This Sketchbook will chronicle my rise to fame.

BE FOREWARNED THE PICTURES YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE ARE HORRIFYINGLY BAD SO FAR EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT ART IS FROM BOOKS I BUY AT THE STORE.

I wish for you to provide constructive criticism not destructive criticism
    Etc.....

(I may suck at drawing stuff but I have won awards for my wire work. I'll try and put that stuff up too...just for fun)
    I

NOTE: bad resizing, bad scanner, bad drawing, after all this is my attempt at learning how to draw by myself

Check out some reading on right/left brain and how it influences the shapes you see, right now you are representing the face as symbols, when they should be just lines/shades. Try to draw something like a face upside down and look at the space and relation in between the lines and not what symbols they are. Read up on it, it's not just gibberish, pretty interesting. Look at this image and draw it, then flip it over and see what happens, and what you didn't notice on the original drawing: http://www.seedsofgrowth.com/files/i...wn.preview.jpg Keep going!, it's seriously just something as simple as redirecting your brain to better draw images.

hey bro, welcome to ca. i recomend doing some simple anatomy studies, and be careful with your proportions..there out of wack. like ellyon said, look at the features in relation to the ones next to it, the distance between them . well, wat would i know my proportions are always all over da place haha. goodluck sir.

update: so i've been drawing alot lately and i may have improved a bit but its really up to you to tell the difference

NOTE: i don't have a program for drawing other than MSpaint (the bane of my existence)
also this pics are scanned directly from my sketchbook so the quality isn't all that great

This time around I actually followed the directions in the book instead of winging it
I tried drawing a female faces but it came out wierd so i left it unfinished
then i tried the male face which turned out much better

im going to work on the shape and contours of the face next
hopefully i can find a book detailing the face muscles and skull
lately i've been doodling lower torso and upper torso muscles
of course they are completely inaccurate but its been fun nonetheless

Hello there . If I may make a suggestion, try reading Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards. It really helped me! Before you can draw, you have to first learn to see.

Remember to watch your proportions of your face and keep them in check! You can use the eyes of the face as a measurement for said proportions!

(Example: the length of an eye (tear duct to opposite eye corner) is equally to the length of space in between each eye, and the nose and mouth should be the WIDTH (eye top to bottom) of an eye apart. If you were to take the eye and put it at an slight, diagonal angle, the length of said eye to the nose should be equal to the eye! )

Also, keep in min the structure and bones within the structures of the face too! A face is not JUST ovalish, it is built off of many structures and forms and shapes. It has a lot of subtle curves and shapes and shadows.

And again, eyes are not just a one shape, they are sort of like this:

Keep it up man, if you just start studying and practicing more, you could go far!
