    Firelode sketches, crit welcome

NEW DRAWINGS BOTTOM OF PAGE THANKS FOR LOOKING - UPDATE 28/04/13

Right well here's my first batch, this painfully shows that I have the details of a mad man but have some dire anatomy problems I'm working on it so hopefully there'll be some improvements in newer pictures. Any crit would be cool so please knock yourself out, then when you wake up, crit!

Oh yeah if you guys have any basic lessons in perspective please share because I'm having real problems with that too hence the relative flatness of my pictures, thanks!

    Enjoy....

You gave yourself the best crit
You're waaaaay to caught up in detail at this point - stop wasting your time with that and start drawing the figure from life...I tend to overdetail my figures too with lavish costumes,etc...I know its fun to do that but if you take more time in the beginning to nail the figure...believe me...you will save alot of time and doing details afterwards will be much more enjoyable...

Do quick sketches and break your figures into large shapes with a lot of flow and rhythm
Look at "Bridgman's Drawing from Life book"

as far as perspective and flatness:
looks like you have some understanding from the 2nd page:
For flatness..establish FG and BG elements as in the 3rd thumbnail with varying sizes of the same object ( as in a cityscape)
And draw a quick grid with a horizon line and Vanishing points before you start a comp as in the 2nd thumbnail

    hope that helps

Hey, yeah been too long, here's a quick 15 minute sketch of Gordon Freeman, basic colour to follow tomorrow. Yes the hand sucks, not really sure why, some help would be appreciated!

Me.......or someone a bit like me

Second one for tonight, it's me! Of course it doesn't look much like me, but it's quite a nice sketch anyways.

Definitely take the time to solidify the anatomy before you start adding detail on the clothing. Also, I noticed that in a lot of your work there's no variation in line or value. Everything is very medium line and medium value. Vary up your linework and that will add a lot to your drawings. Good start, keep posting.
