Van Gogh part 2 post looks very interesting,
Although these drawings are done somewhere nine
and ten years ago, they look excellent. I would
like to see some of your today's concepts and ideas
    mixed in between these.
    Keep posting.

@ devastacio thanks m8 , he was awesome artist and we can learn alot from him ,but in first place we can learn from him how to be human .....if u like Van Gogh then i reccomend u to read book called "Lust for Life" written by Irving Stone ... u will surprise how big was Van Gogh.

@ LtPlissken Thanks m8 , and specialy for u here is some my latest works ...its some drawings for current COTW 4 horsemen of apocalypse ...i jumped in that competition very late and i am not sure that i will finish my work before deadline ,i will do my best ...i not expect anything on that competition , than to be part of it ...one vote will be enough for me

Here is sketches of War and Conquest and final work will be all 4 horsemens on one canvas

Cool horses I like your style. And horses. And your horses
It's Chow btw, H is especially important because there's Cow too... Don't you think about participating in that?
(I would be happy if I did a few sketches for the current long Chow at least but no, I do anything else instead of that... Chow is my big goal here, from the start. Just to participate with something I'm pleased with. Cow would be great too...)

I think the horseman are definitely weaker than the horses and Chow originally focuses on the characters, that's why it's called Chow... They are a bit wonky perspective/anatomy wise or something and have less character.
It sounds so harsh, I totally can't say anything advise just say my opinion... :-/

If you are working for the Character of the Week contest, then I think
that it should go like 'CHOW'.
Very interesting, you have your own style indeed.
I did not read the rules in the Chow section, does the horse have
to be of mechanical nature, or was that your decision?
I will not search for any anatomical or proportion issues, cause
I know that you done intentionally this kind of abstract style.
Definitely yours will be a different from the others. Way to go.
Hope yo will manage to finish them all on time, and you will surely
    get my vote.

nice studies you have so far. I would crit that you should try and increase the differences in line width and weight. Try and include lots of different variations of pencil mark in your drawings.

    good luck

Hey these CHOW concepts got some unique style into em mate. btw in the 'Conquest' ground plane looks too flat to me. may be some few variations will fix it. just a thought.

Ill be there for the voting. i just love these pieces.

Thanks for mentioning the book mate. really appreciate it. Will try to buy it soon as possible. i know very little about this great artist. now that you aroused my curiosity, cant wait till i get that book. May he rest in peace.

btw this is my favorite Van Gogh piece: The Potato Eaters. simply love the mood in it.

@ shiNIN Thanks , yeah it's CHOW ....i made typo (thats my middle name ) and yes u are right that horsemans is weaker than horses ...but for me one horseman of apocalipse is horseman+horse , and yes u can draw them without horses ..there is no rules about that , also i know i will not win , i just want to be part of competition for me not important to win, it is important to participate

@ LtPlissken it's my idea to be mechanical horses , and i will work hard to finish them on time , thx for support

@ ThomasM ,thanks for visiting my SB , and thanks for tips ,i will try to improve my skills in future

@ devastacio thanks mate, u are right about ground plane ...thats same ground as on war just reversed and added some light effect ...tbh i not payed too much attention on that for now ,because it's not neccesary for competition , so i do it very quick just to not have empty space around character....that Van Gogh pic rocks ...i love his room and sunflowers

@ qlotzan Thakns for visiting my SB , i ma glad u like it and that u see some progress

Continuing with my sketches here is some portraits from old SB ,nothing special about that ...for all portraits i haved live models and not too much knowledge so u will found many mistakes on them

Your heads are coming along nice!
Just keep practicing anatomy too, it is really necessary for your head drawings if you want to keep improving
You are on a good way.

Actually, you nailed the head shapes and the
facial features real nice, considering that the heads
are in a various tilted and rotated positions.
And I do not know are you familiar with the fact,
but most of them here claim that drawing from life
is one of the most useful thing for the artist in his
row of improvement. Well then, I guess that you did
a very useful and good job back them. Experience points are
a great thing, and you are just collecting them slowly but
surely. Keep up with the good work.

Indeed, there are various issues regarding those portraits... The most frequent is the somewhat oversized eyes and the features don't make a whole consistent head. You need practice as practically all of us. But there are character and variety in those faces and it's not bad to look at them at all I find the third one the most expressive (too big eyes and top of head by the way).

    Hello there,

These portraits look good but you could make em much better if you do some head studies/facial features, photo ref drawings and life drawings. Grab couple of fashion mags and draw away!

About your chow entry: I noticed theres a white outline under the hoofs. it makes the horse look like as if its above the ground level. you may wanna change it before submission. Just a thought

Keep up the good work mate.

@ Kungfoowiz , tnx m8 i know theory ,just need alot practice and time

@ Silwynar , tnx Sil , yeah anathomy is very important for drawings .. also very complicated , i am still not ready for that ,but in future i plan to pay more attention on it

@ LtPlissken tnx my friend u are right about that , bad thing is that live models is very hard to find

@ shiNIN tnx for commnet , yes i need alot to practice , and eyes is very badly drawn i need to work more with eyes and proportions and anathomy too

@ devastacio tnx mate , yes ur tip about reference will have epilogue later in my SB ...when i start to draw i made alot portraits from imagine then i realised that is not good ,and i use some fashion magazine and work with ref. i was surprised how it is different ....later i will post all that sketches ....and i will remind u on that. about CHOW ...its not final version of my work ...and i know about that , thx anyway for help

Here is other portraits and one figure...first is live model , second is is some girl from magazine third is from imagination ,and last one is whole figure from imagination ,most of them is drawn with only HB pencil , sometimes i used black crayons on some sketches.

I accidentally clicked and lost my comment... sorry but I'm so tired. I will be even more quick I was before (but I was thinking and it took time... not the crit, the explanation in English...).

First: The most serious issue: right corner of mouth (her right, our left) and right eye turn away from us, it affects their shape and the drawing shows nothing of it.

Second: High forehead is considered not very appealing in woman. It's so huge I even doubt it's realistic. The mouth looks strange, I never saw a mouth shaped anything like this.

Third: I love it, it has that something that makes me forget its flaws
You did something incredible here... Huge forehead... long nose... and she's still pretty! You defy rules of aestetics Nice expression.
I notice the unusually shaped cranium but I don't mind it. It's even possible, some old folks had the custom that made something like this with the skull. Natural cranium shapes are wonderful as well and I don't mind stylization if you can pull it off nicely
But the eyes are too close together.
I got motivated, I will draw her and produce such a different picture no one can stop me from uploading it... But I tell you, maybe you like when you motivate others or something

great portrait work you are doing lately - this is the sort of study that will definitely pay off in the future. If you can do an accurate portrait of someone you can basically draw anything!

More interesting head and face drawings, very nice.
However I am not sure how useful is for me to lay some more serious
crirts down here, cause I know that these drawings are more than 10 year
old and that you have improved in skills and quality much much more lately.
So the things that I am criticizing about these drawings, are almost surely
not applicable for your current knowledge level and skillset.
Anyway, a skull study, some basic anatomy study is a must, if you are
taking more serious your portrait drawing career. You tend to chop off the
back off the head, or you just do not thinking about the structure of the
head. You also used to draw an eye in its symbol phase, and not as a
three dimensional subject or invention. These are very basic mistakes, but as I said earlier
no need to take them seriously cause I believe that you already fixed these issues under your
    hood after ten years.

Bottom line is that I appreciate your presence here, your dedication and
your regular updates. Hope that you will keep your good habits.
    Cheers.
