Just thought of something that it seems like your missing on your human figs,
Have you tried looking at the figures balance? It can throw off the look if it seems like the person shouldn't be able to stay upright in the position their in. I find its less of a problem if their airborn or something but still needs to be considered.

    Hope that helped

medusoid: I've been working on that..if you're referring to the angel one, he was originally supposed to be floating..then i drew the pedestal to close to his feet. I think i'm still in the awkward stage with figure drawing right now. I had that with environments too but they have got a lot more natural.

anyways, here's a black and white speedpaint of an interior. One of the big things I have been noticing in professional enviros is the spectacular lighting...seems obvious but somehow that has escaped me for over two years of painting enviros. So I will be working on that a lot more, hopefully in every piece now. If anyone has suggestions on the topic that would be great.

Awesome man that sounds really cool but unfortunately your last posts scares the crap out of me so I may need to avoid your Sb from now on

Oh and if you want some good inspiration for that try looking up the enviros for BioShock 1 and 2 their actually both amazingly lit and if u hav a ps2 you can get Shadow of the Colossus and just walk around and your bound to find an unbelievable shot(IDK how to credit that though)

medusoid: sorry about that. I looked at some bioshock concept art, pretty epic stuff. I remember shadow of colossus, that just had an epic feel to it.

    here's a 1 hour mood sketch.

here's a bronze age hut for stone age. I'm not going to be posting the level designs here until the game is released, but this is a pretty small part of the game... you better not steal it anyways! There are lots of better artists to steal from anyways I suppose. CC is much appreciated as always.

I'm really jealous of the mood of your work. It has some soul in it! The enviro's are very good.
The figurative stuff needs to keep up with the environments :p
All you need is to work and to love what you do.

DUDE... so much emotion in those last few!!! I love it you should try and do a abstracts city kinda like the one you have in 131 but more loose and colorful(you know like in some slums I think in mexico they paint their homes really vibrant colors to rase their spirits)

Thanks! I really need to work on thinking about stuff like that in my art, the details like how the people living there feel... that just made me think of it. I'm going to be going on a missions trip to mexico this summer so I'll see then!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Your enviros have quite cool atmosphere. Do you use posemaniacs for the poses? http://www.pixelovely.com/tools/gesture.html This is much better tool IMO cause the models are not shabby low poly models with a texture spread on them. Keep up good work.

fallen monarchs master study by William Bliss Baker (original) ... I hope I can paint like that someday... this was just to get the mood and color, not detail oriented.

The fallen monarchs piece kicks butt! Very, very cool.
I wished my sketches would look that good in a rough stadium.

    Well hello there, Jeff.

I was actually just asking when I get to meet this "Jeff Brown Guy", as I have started doing some stone age work as well for mountain wheel. Then I randomly came across a reply you made, and sure enough, same Jeff Brown .

I really think your values are doing well, and your color palette is beginning to mature more and more. Some of your figures are a bit wonkier, but it seems to be something you're working out.

I really like your work, man. You seem to have a pretty good drive and you understand what you're doing- keep kicking ass and I hope to see you around.
