I love your animal sketches. You do this far better than me.
Your understanding of colour has improved a lot, at least in the digital.

I saw a little problem worth correcting in your comic in post #205:

The speech bubbles are too tight around the text. The text should not touch the edges of the bubble or come out of it. I recommend you draw them yourself instead of using a template. In the classic professional comics the bubbles were hand drawn and not exactly eliptical. There's a bit of a slant at times, so they adapt to the text and the other bubbles. Note how the bubbles slant a bit, the margin around the text as well and how much thinner the point is in this Asterix sample.

    Some more general advice:

If you want your colored pencil work to look more consistent, either "feel" around the object, crosshatch or hatch according to light direction or action. You could also try liquid watercolor. You can use it diluted as a base before you use coloring pencils so there's no white showing through. Or even just use it on its own.

I like your dedication and your cartoons and comics. I'm stalking.

@Leonor Thanks for the crit and for checking me out =) I would return the favor but.... where's your sketchbook man?!?

This batch. I went on a doodle spree for some reason i just felt like doing it. ALso some gestures and watercolor atcs. The calico is just a doodle with watercolor on top. I think its the best card i've made so far, also its the best job with water colors i've done. These 2 cards are the first time ive played with salt with my watercolor, I like the way it turned out. I have these 2 up on atcs for all, a lot of people have been asking for them, but i REALLY like the calico one, I might just keep it >.<. I need to make more though, maybe play with some gouache i have laying around from school, I want to start a collection of warcraft druids to ease my cravings.

SO many things ive been avoiding. Perspective, html, CSS, wordpress, writing, humans and all those things i know Ill need. Its time to stop avoiding them. Its time to start tacking those things.

    I'll (re)open a sketchbook soon.
Those speech bubbles are better, the point is still too thick and I still make my case for handrawn ones.

What are your "bibles", your favorite "how to" books on drawing cartoons and animals?

@Leonor I dont really have any how to books on cartoons. I have preston blair yeah but I dont think its helped me that much yet, im still picking what to take up etc. One thing that has really helped me is page 96 of drawn to life. Im going to scan it. But since reading that I have gathered tons of inspiration that I love to admire everyday. When I look at it I try to imagine how they drew it and what their intentions were with it. Not only does it motivated me and help me know what im working towards, I truely believe Osmosis works just from the few months that Ive used it. I hope no one sues me for uploading this page =S
Also i got Tom bancrofts books during the summer and I enjoy them. I like how he can do more then just 1 style of character, he can adapt so well to any type of character. Its made me try to do more then just the same face all the time. He is around the internet.

I'm really loving your sketchbook wing!! Makes me really want to get back to animation drawing. One thing that stands out is everything is super loose and lively which is obviously the end result you want. However on John K's blog (http://johnkstuff.blogspot.co.uk/) somewhere on there he talks about the need to do really tight stiff and super accurate drawings of the stuff you are studying and really nail them THEN go back to the loose stuff. The stiff stuff will be dead in comparison but it will improve your loose stuff since you will be honing in on the knowledge. Hope it helps!!!

i like all the cute animals, if i was you I'd actually copy Disney characters? but i guess over time you develop your own formula for sweet animals
they so remind me of my childhood. great sketchbook.

Lovely sketches here, I will check your animations, let's
see if I can find them. So far no critique, you are doing
great with all the form studies and the paintings and the
nudes. Just keep doing that, you will improve in no time.

You are still hesitating to swing the mallet toward it’s correct path,
but when you swing it in the right manner two autumn pumpkins
goes gently smashed, which correlates to the wooden apple dime under
the nearest half breed pine. Whenever you put your hands on some
simple doodle or animation, a miracle happens without any hesitation.
I was looking in the eyes of your hand drawn animals, and I realized once
again the beauty and pureness that they shine. Moonlight and sunlight at
the same time, and you are absolutely right, you are getting in touch with
the emotional side of the drama. Such sensible mighty way to go
through the trenches of this dark dynasty. Some of the mini comics
that you do, could make even a sliding bear to feel divine. And of
course I can see that you’ve already implemented mister snowman into
the game combination. You did a fantastic move, cause I also think that
it ain’t Christmas yet, but he absolutely must step in forth onto the scene.
Actually here in my local vicinity, there is a snowman which never melts,
he stands there even through summertime, something most amazing that
I ever saw in my life. I wish you to keep going with your pure and fantasy
kind of animal drawings, because this way is the most effective way that
you can share your love and a piece of your golden heart. You know that
the world appreciate it. We all appreciate it.

That’s the way you should always make the pancake gently to roll.
Majestic speed paints, and good animal drawings, the scared scare-crow
is happier than he was before. Speed paints, under 20 mins, are great,
my suggestion would be to do them in smaller resolution but with more
details. You are a magic creature, do not make any mistake about it,
and I always like to come here.

@LTPlissken You are too much, such a charmer. I can tell i have a blush, which is hard to tell with my complexion. I agree I definitely Should have done them smaller. I wasnt really paying attention to the size while making them. Something to watch for next time!

I dont think theres much to say about this batch. STUFF. I listened to alot of old school music like the Beatles and 'you cant hurry love' while drawing. I grew up in a house where my grandmother would crank that up on the stereo (+ Micheal jackson) while making a family dinner. I think thats why I like it. There is a word for that i believe, for having a certain thing bring you back to your childhood (something along those lines), but at the moment it escapes me.

Also someone said i was a special snowflake for having feelings! That made my day! I graciously tip my hat as I take my place as Frosty the snowman! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I really like your sketches and the toony style, it reminds me a little bit of me and my work xD
And I found it great, that you try to do animations. The thing of the top looks promising.
