    Dragon Dog update

This is an update on the oil painting I am working on featuring a dragon dog.

I worked on the dragon dog itself, but I am having a bit of a problem with its' helmet.
I think that I am going to change it, so that it will cover the dog's ears.

have also been working on the wings, I have a problem incorporating them into the dragon dog's armor.

If the dog had wings they would properly sit on its shoulder blade. Actually, I think the wings look a bit small for the dragon dog! Would it be able to fly with that size of wings? I am not so sure? Well, this is a piece of fantasy art, so the wings will have to do!

So what did I learn to day?
Detailed sketches are importuned. I actuarially did a drawing showing how the wings should be attached to the dragon dog, but I forgot about it, and started the painting too early. Look all the information I need are right here in this early sketch I did!

Dragon Dog Oil Painting is so WOW,
I have called my neighbours little kid so see it,
and he went wild, he so much like it also,
he broke my grandmothers urn with his head instantly
as he was hitting the ground.
Your art is really awesome, keep
    up with the good work.

    How To Make Fairy Fashion

I love fairies, and I love to create fairy fashion, so I thought I would show you how I go about doing it

First of all you will need a lot of flowers and leaves to choose from for your fashion design. Make sure you have plenty of flower materials to work with!

I also use all sorts of decoration materials. Some of it are scrap booking supplies and some of it is for flower decoration. I especially find that the small decorated pins for flower decorations are useful.

I pick a handful of flowers that I like. I try to choose some flowers within the same colour range, but with various shapes, and like in a painting it's alway nice to add a splash of contrasting colour to the dress. It is up to you how you want to shape the dress!

To hold the dress together I wrap a piece of wire around the stalks.

I cut of the stalks, so that I only have 1.5 inch left.

Then I find one or two long and slim leaves to wrap around the waist of the dress. The long leaves will also form the corsage of the dress.

I secure the end of the leaf with a pin, and then I wrap it around the stalks.

Now the fun part comes. I start to arrange the dress. I place it on a piece of paper or cardboard, that will enhance the colours of the flowers. For this dress, I used a decorated pin and some tiny glitter stones. I also used a small paper umbrella. The kind you use for decorations of drinks.
At the point when I like the fashion design, I shoot a lot of photos with my digital camera. I found that it's best to take the photos looking down on the dress.

I upload the photos to my PC and open the best photo in Paint Shop Pro or Photo Shop.
I use all sorts of tools to do the digital manipulation, like tubes or stamps and clones. I create my own stamps for my art so that all of the fashion design is my own.

Some times I use the fairy fashion as reference photo for an illustrations. This dress was later changed into a paper doll illustration for a magazine.

his two pages illustration was created from photos of a fairy fashion design from my garden

Go and see my fairy fashion show!

    Nice self portraits.
Try to lay down the base color with some
large brush and then go with the small brush over
and work the details out. Remember, try to block
in the base colors first. Working grayscale is best
for learning values. Keep improving, you are doing great.

    More Self Portraits/ eye study

I am still trying to do self portraits. I don't think my proportions are right jet, so I
have tried to focus on how my eyes can be drawn. The line drawing is a study where I focused on the proportions. I find it difficult to draw myself from a mirror, because I have to move my head to draw, that is properly why it is much easier to draw a model than it is to draw a self portrait.

    Fantasy Buildings

I spend yesterday drawing more sketches for my castle painting. Doodling is the part of creating art that I enjoy the most. The more I doodle the better details I come up with!

I like to do some sketches of windows, towers and the ornamentation on the buildings. I used photos I have taken of buildings, and I found some great books about architecture as reference.

I like to let my imagination run wild to see where it will take me.

This tower has a more abstract structure, and I think it's a bit to space like, to become a tower on Apple Hold Castle, but I might use it for a painting of Alfenheim City.

The ornamentation on the buildings is importuned. This is a renaissance inspired decoration. I like it, but perhaps a bit to be human. I think the apple fairies' castle is more organic some how.

I like the combination of brick work and wood. I combined details from two buildings for this sketch.

This is a Viking inspired tower. The Viking buildings are easy to incorporate with organic shapes, so I am more and more convinced that Apple Hold Castle is going to be based on Viking age buildings.

Viking tower, with a wooden roof and bird ornaments.

I like this tower, but perhaps it's a bit to be rough to be a part of the castle. However, I might use it in the back ground.

This is a very rough doodle, but the ornaments are kind of cool...

My first sketch of the gate

The first sketch I did of the Apple Hold Castle's gate needed to get more organic shapes. This is a very rough idea.

This is one of the first sketches I did for the castle, but I want the castle to be incorporated into an apple tree, so this won't do.

Here I placed the castle up against a trunk. The castle is built on the branches and sort of floating. I like this idea and I think I will take some photos of my apple trees to get more ideas. This could be the gate of the castle and then the main buildings of the castle could be situated in the tree top.

My next task is to do a larger and more detailed sketch of the castle gate. I will try a 2 point perspective or perhaps go totally crazy and do it in a 4 point perspective.
