Hey Ranunkel, thanks for commenting in my SB. I really like your pencil studies/renderings. Also, I see what you mean by adding more values/deeper shadows, I didn't use enough grey-scale range. I'll definitely do that.

    Bone-hand

I find it hard to draw hands so I decided to study how it is constructed. I used a photo as reference I took at a local museum.

    Marshall's Anatomy workshop

To day, I downloaded Marshall's Anatomy workshop from the Streaming Classes, and it was worth every penny! I had so much information, that I wish I had many years ago! Marshall explained the human anatomy very sufficiently, and I hope some day to go to the US to take one of his classes!

Don't miss out on this! It's great stuff!

Hello! thank you for your reply in my thread. It's great to get some feedback on my first day here.

um one thing i could say about your work is that i think you'll get really good if you keep practicing that anatomy, you've got really good potential.
Also, you need to pay a bit more attention to light sources, especially when you use really dark colours. don't forget to visualize and often draw lightly the figure under the clothing, especially in your last picture, that cape seems to extend way beyond the actual shoulder and arm underneath. I hope that helps

    Study of Head and Neck

My last sketches are studies of the head and neck. I found it hard to do all the muscles, but I must say I learnt a lot from these drawings.

Comments are welcome, if you have anything to add I would appreciate your thoughts.

    Quick Nose studies

I also did some quick nose studies to day. Hmm noses are kind of interesting. I think I will start a collection of phots, starting with photos of my friends'noses.

    Poses, figure, sketch

To day I have been working on some poses for a drawing I am creating for a doll artist.

I was asked to draw a Marie Antoinette/fairy like doll. The sculptor wants 3 views of the doll's face.
I dropped the eye line a bit lower on the 3/4 view. I had some help in the WIP thread where the doll head also is posted.

    Doll Head 2

To day I went over the doll head again, to try to clean it up. Now I think will ink it. Oh now that I look at it I can see the the eye on the side view is wrong.

Before shading always build the structure. So how have built the nose - the same principle. This castle was drawn from nature?

    re castle

The Castle was drawn from a photo. I did start with some constructional lines, but then I got carried away, and lost them in the process of drawing.

I thought so! Me too I particularly love Alan Lee, amazing water colours. Thanks She's meant to be a pretty terrifying, disgusting demon lady. You should have a go at CHOW it's a great way expand your horizons, getting to to paint stuff you never would have thought of doing. And you get lots of really helpful crits which are so important.

Yeah I'm using photoshop, starting with purely black and white with the pen pressure set to size so I can very quickly get my idea down. Then I start to work away at it, hopefully solving composition and proportion issues before I start to add colour. I do this by mutiplying the B&W layer and colouring the layer under and touching up on a layer above. I also add colour overlay layer on top if I want to really enhance colour. It's not perfect yet but I'm working on it

To day, I have been drawing noses. This is a mix of male, female, old and young noses. I in particularly enjoyed drawing the big nose of an old man.

Wow you've progressed so much from your first posts already. You work with pencil is great, so much control. As for feedback for your perspective and landscape studies you could always try so digital studies, that way you know you can get the structure lines right then everything else will just fall into place.
