Love your style. Looks great in here!
Love your style. Looks great in here!
Nice anatomy and gestures, i like the color in them.
I love these peeps.
Our old house had a great fireplace, a real idyll ambient.
My grandfather burnt to crisps there. It was a violent death.
He was too weak to get out of the fire, cause my grandmother
was pushing him back in with a broom.
This has nothing to do with your art, but in a strange way the
fire that your art is radiating through my mental state, reminded
me on these happy childhood occasions. If you remember Dicaprio
saving some of the Titanic's passengers than you most probably know
what I am talking about, but your class life drawings are just so admirable.
You are slowly becoming a strong character and a hero in someone's eyes.
You will never realize how happy you were when you will be even more happier,
cause you are a fantastic multi-functional person.
Your amazing talents will make the mountains to turn to gold and
to crush the neverending mixtures of salty half melted hills.
I guess you know how did David Copperfield
felt when he made his wife's left shoe to disappear. Well, I do not feel like
that at all now, but I feel much better cause I just saw your beautiful art.
Keep posting.
I went through your sketchbook, great improvement
The last batch has a great gestural quality, which I really admire.
Love the use of aquarel and color, keep this up.
Love the sumi-e and the colors line over pencil on page 1. Those are some nice flowline studies.

Izi bows before the superior intellect of Velocity and he has a pretty neat sketchbook
I'm impressed you many different mediums you use to make your studies! And they look pretty good. Very interesting to you see your work
Those gestures are awesome! I can't wait untill I visit my drawing class...

Your life drawing stuff is simply great! I'm sorry to hear you are feeling boxed in by the idea of representational illustration, but my 2c are that in doing representational stuff, I am slowly learning how to reconstruct reality, and through that one day I hope to be able to construct my thoughts and imagination into something believable. To me that would be amazing!
In post #257 the brushwork gestures are really fluid, I love how you are representing a figure in so few strokes. My favorite one is the second to last however, you really nailed it! Keep it up!
But I must say my favorites are the pen sketches you did of your classmates. Having that much detail even with them moving - that's something I want to try out for myself sometime. I really hate asking anyone to stop moving x_x
PS: UPDATE TIME! =P
There is something very genuine in your drawings, it feels very thoughtful and doesn't seem to me as if you 'lick' very much. Can't beat that!
shiNIN: Yeah, she is pretty lively! She smiled like that the whole time
teapo: Thank you! I definitely understand the female figure better than the male, and those curves are just a blast !
ThomasM: (oh dear, that's a girl! haha, she does look like an elegant male though) Yes indeed, you're quite right. This would have been a good opportunity for that too, since she was catching the glare of the computer monitor. Thanks!
Naidy: Huzzah!
goldilockz, Ludic: Grazie!
LtPlissken: Sorry to hear about your grandpa! Hahahaha! It's hard for me to recover from this comment of pure joy, but just to say that it made me laugh for a long time is enough. Thanks my friend.
cifgha, Naomi, Valyavande, Eclair: Thanks to all of you! Glad you enjoyed my gestures![]()
devastacio: Hello there, hope whatever it is you're doing for the next six months is something awesome! Thanks for checking my work out in the meantimeThanks for the 5 stars dear, though I sincerely hope you felt I deserved them now, instead of simply as a tease!
Nelka: That's true, believability is something that can stop a person in their tracksBut perhaps reality is different than belief...(DEEEPPP) Glad that you enjoyed my gestures! And thanks for the nudge
...
SO WHAT IS THIS POST?
This post is my confession.
Should be pretty plain by the following pictures what I'm trying to confessButttt, there is a little clue as to what I've been working on.
Trying to remember the colors of home, the colors of the sea. But in painting that little guy it started to become more of an abstract composition with reds and purples and such that totally deviated from what I started with, don't know if I really like it, but it sure is fun to work in oils again!

Hi kiwi from #post 257 i think your lines convey the form very well and all is looking really good only critiq i can give here is the image above the girl laying down, the one standing up with and holding a rope of sort, i think head might be to big or the leggs are to short but might just be me, i am no expert on anatomy so can't tell for sure =p, down to the portraits, i like all 3 of them favorit one is the bottom one, i'm really starting to like inked portraits no critiq here, also enjoyed looking at your workplace, i always find that very intressting to see were the art is being created for each artist
i will look forward to see more updates![]()

Your workstation looks busy as hell. Keep on trucking.
Pluscandy: Hey, you like the painting? Maybe I'll keep working on itThanks!
teapo: Hrm...We'll talk. I'm sure there is something you can do for me...
Velocity Kendall: Really? You like that one? I though that it was the weakest of the bunch. Maybe I'm not looking at it the right way. Thanks so much!
snatti: hey snatti, glad to hear that you enjoyed my portraits! And I think you're right about her legs, I think the shins might be tiny! At least she looks as though she may pass for a dwarf with a staff, so maybe it's ok
RyanRyan Ah yes...Busy. Busy indeed
...
Here are some new sketches of some people on campus that I thought had an interesting personal style. Looks like leggings and boots are in.
Oh and, a couple of portraits of people in my class.

I really like the girl's face with the glasses on that last post. C:
You're definitely showing a growing improvement, can't wait to see what you do next, so keep up the good work mate!
I must say, that I'm a little disappointed. I wasn't around for a kabilion years, and when I'm back I see so little updates :<. But! They say that the quality counts. And I like your updates a lot. Especially those ink figures. Very inspiring. I need to try out more traditional media xd. Anyway I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has such a mess in my spot
. Looking forward to see more of your stuff. Cheers

I threw 2 nitroglycerin pills under my tongue right in
the same minute when I saw your art studio photos.
I knew it right from the start that you are such a brave heart,
you are a dare devil, you can smack a mongoose under water,
without him noticing the actual hit. You are a far cousin of an
old Voodoo preacher from north Sri Lanka. You are so gracious,
that even a frozen chicken could turn to a stone from watching your
beautiful portrait drawings. Keep on doing your awesomeness.
One day they will be making statues about you and they will be
selling them in China shops.
I am so happy that I know you my dear friend.
I love when people show their little studios, adds a more personal touch to everything
the latest updates def showing improvement in line work, quality, and economy.. keep pushin it, and do some more gestures!!
keep em comin!
WOW AN UPDATE!
Sorry I've been so busy guys, I know it probably makes me seem lame after having been so active here over the holidays. But I have been working hard.
...
I had the incredible opportunity to go to an American Civil War reenactment this past weekend. It was the battle at Olustee, the Confederates kicked the Union's ass big time. Pretty significant history, and people are SERIOUS about it! about 1500 reenactors in complete, historically accurate uniform and battle configurations, amazing horses, pyrotechnics, loud blasts and southern belles in hoop skirts. I was in heaven. And I think I got some pretty awesome sketches!
I hope you guys enjoy looking at them as much as I did sketching them (forgive me for posting so many! haha, they're just so exciting). If you have any questions about the event feel free to ask, it's annual, and if you're anywhere near Florida at the end of February, I highly recommend trying to go.
These are all in Sharpie pen...

dont talk crazy, these are great put em all up!
i strongly recommend picking up a copy of David Gentleman's India.. hes an eminent illustrator, designed more Royal Mail stamps than anyone else ever, and documented 9months in India with a book of gorgeous loose pen drawings. im trying in vain to find some pics on the net, but i think youd really like the book.
also show these to Darkeyes, hes an amazing gestural artist and has a lot of interesting things to say about this kind of work..

please post more!! i wish i had the confidence to do this quick line work and make it look so effortless..however i would like to see more of the people's limbs when on the horse, your horses are done so well, seems as if you stopped short with some of the people
either way, don't put yourself down, these are great, throw em up!
Thanks friend! I'm kind of burnt out on scanning nowI'll probably upload some more on the next wave!
And thanks so much for the book suggestion, I just checked the Uni library, they don't have his India, but they do have his Paris! I can't wait to pick it upI'll look up Darkeyes too.
Thanks again![]()
