Loving all these works, my particular favourites being the rendered armour one, and the one you have used as an avatar
Practice, practice and MORE practice..

So this is a study of the skin tones and muscle forms. My primary reference was the front cover of the ImagineFX at my Uni, but to get supplements for muscle reference I took to various other sources. So I believe the original image was a promotional Blizzard for Diablo three, and I particularly wanted to learn about the relationships between different colours. Probably the most striking thing was that if you put a neutral colour into a sea of warm colours then it appears to be a cool colour. Even if it's warm and just less saturated, it will appear as a cool colour, and this was an awesome thing to learn. Anyway, He's got some left on him, but I'm kinda sorta happy with progress thus far. I think the whole thing could use some more cool colours to be honest.

The muscles are so defined, it looks like there is no skin at all.
Maybe try multiple light sources of differing color and intensity. That will make it easier to model the forms.
For learning light and color, you cant beat a few hours in front of a still life.
So some life drawing sessions that I took too much time to render. I feel like they came out a tad too dark. Not the scanning, mind you, that's fine, but the rendering on my part was messy and hastened. I know what this needs. Moar practice! =D

So. Hydralisk. Duh. The second is something I doodled on the Train home for Christmas and the third is a Carnifex I drew from a friend's unpainted model. Though I feel as though all the limbs are too tightly woven together and as a result the silhouette isn't as informative as it can be... but whatever.

So these are the models I drew tonight. I forget her name but his name is Brett.
Gorgeous muscle definition on that guy. I'm happy he takes his job seriously.

your pencils are better than most of your digital, however that last digital looks way better,
to much opasity can make your work look unconfident and mushy" with the pencils try using
a hb to rough out the broad areas, and make sure to get the faces and hands right, then
go in with a darker one and clean it up would be some suggestions I can think of, other than that keep at it bro! cheers.
So the first image are my source images. I'm not Crahzz, I took those photos when I was in New Zealand. So the upper left and upper right images are from various points in the Milford Track, and the lower is the ski Fields on the Remarkables, Queenstown. I took these, composed them and flipped them.
I want to add in a foreground focal point, like a character, or trails of characters moving through the snow. I feel like the four prominent rocks are creating an implied line so I will add the characters in to match that.
And polish the background mountains a wee bit.

tThis is looking like the start of a great sbIt's obvious that your strengths seem to be colours and digital painting, that wacom holder still life looks pretty loverlyy.
I think you need to work more on your construction and your faces to bring them up to the same level? And your rendering could use some tidying up, but you seem to already know that; it's been improving already.
haha, these are my weaknesses too i think. keep it comingg!!

Haaaa, no, I only really started doing colour last year, I just happen to be improving a bit faster because of the CA downloadable stuff, plus weekly life drawing.
But thanks, my construction and my faces are definitely an issue. I looked at your sketchbook and you're practicing a lot and improving very fast for it =)
Wanna be 'improvement buddies'? Lolololol

cool studies!
you're obsessed with detail tho. i reckon some of your proportional issues would've been obvious about 1/10 into your drawings, and should've been addressed at that point (or you could've started a new sketch, that's what sketching is for).
it's a shame because you put such effort into shading these, but the problems I can see lie with foundations like construction and perspective underneath. Those are the things you should focus on! before you try a finished drawing, just hack out 3-4 really quick loose drawings to nail the proportions etc. it really helps
I don't really know why but your figures somehow don't look convincing and natural - maybe they are too stiff. You could concentrate more on gesture drawing.
But I love your creature design. Why won't you color some of it?![]()
Keep up the good work. Be weary of the lounge, it's a big distraction.

I saw the above post, I gotta say, I laughed my god damned ass off. I like your stuff, man. My crit, aside from keep pushing the anatomy, is to push your lights and darks. It looks like you're using the same HB pencil for entire studies. Your darks need to be darker and your lights should be lighter.
Keep workin!
