    Smile Kai's sketchbook

Hello everyone, it is my first thread here. I am a new comer so I am not familiar with it.

I am glad to know people who has the same interest.

This is my latest painting, which I spend for 20 days. Is it too long? Sometimes I don't think it is good to paint only one painting for too long. Feel free to give me suggestion. That's what I need most. ^-^

I think your heads might be a tadddd too big, even for an SD. I think making sure that the eyes are in the middle of the head and not making the hairline-top of the head so big will help

Thank you Lady, and thank you kiwi, you are right, I realize the head are too big so I change it smaller, I am not sure if it is enough or not.

However I add more details and color it again.

Absolutely amazing stuff. I have a few kid characters myself but have allot more trouble than you seem to be haveing with it. Do you have any reference ideas youd be willing ti share? And if you dont have any in particular would you mind if I referenced your character's proportions. I wont if you dont want me to but you really seem to have the heights down and everything so Id really appreciate it

Lovely style. Love the 20-day-spent one. All of it reminds me of Final Fantasy. But are you planing to stay within this style, or you want to expand your skills and learn some serious anatomy and stuff? Whatever the answer is you just don't stop practicing. Wish you luck mate.

Glad to see so much time put into the concepting for the characters, if you want to get better i recommended doing life studies, you never know when life will influence your work. Keep it up it's great to see different styles and minds at CA. Also here's something that's helped me a lot lately.

I think you can find references in the online game character and some animations. Feel free to reference mine, I would be glad if it helps you (^3^)

    Hey kai.ouyang!

Sweet characters dude. Perhaps try to diversify your lines. Change your pen pressure to brush size.
This small thing would improve your work a lot in my opinion.

    Greetings

Definitely, I have trouble finding anime kid references becuase their proportions are different than real life (10yr old anime = 6 yr old in real life... or something to that effect I think) But again thanks

Hi Kai! Head is still too big. The problem is that the cranium front to the back of the head to the top of the head is absolutely huge and his face looks normal sized. Take the hair away, it'll help to see that.

    Keep goin!

Thank you, In fact I do love Final Fantasy, especially their characters.
I haven't decided my style yet but I want to try more different kinds. Sometimes I don't want to be too childish.
