    hi dicharge,

I really think you could do with some loomis. The faces look a bit scrunched in the middle, which was a huge problem for me before. I went through the loomis books from cover to cover and it really helped.

Your last quick sketches are much more accurate! Keep it going because it's a good start to a sketchbook and you can already see improvement

If you're going for realistic, try to keep from having the features of the face with a clear outline.

Thanks for coments. I got to agree that some Loomis would be good for me.

Here's some pencil studies I did at my college.

Another one from imagination today. I'd better do some studies, I guess...
And one from observation. I think I tend to make faces too short. I'll try fixing that...

hey man, its getting better for sure!

But maybe its an idea to start at the basics again.
Just redo the basics for urself and learn the skull and its proportions.
Go for loomis i guess.. he explains stuff nice clean and simple!
It will definatly improve your drawings from life, photo or from mind.

    Study hard! And never quit!

    Good luck!

The problem is, you see, that I've started drawing portraits rigth after reading loomis book... :/ So it's seems even Loomis can't help me...

Anyway, I keep on trying. Here you see a portrait done from several photos. I did it in a new angle and lighting. Was pretty difficult, but quite rewarding tho.

You are very good with digital sketching, maybe you should try something other than portraits such as landscapes maybe. I might also suggest maybe working from reference more often also, since that could help you improve your skills.

Nice Studies man! Studying from Photos is very good, but doing Mastercopies is more effective - you learn the best from the Best! Try it!

Nice work you got going here---I think that the lady on post #24 is by far your best portrait. Keep it up!

I think some of your portraits are good but some are lacking. I would try to understand the anatomy of the face more. When you draw a face sometimes it seems a little stretched out or the proportions just seem off. Really try to understand the skull and I would maybe suggest drawing the skull from different angles as well as creating portraits. It also looks like with some of them that you might be painting from photographs...? It's much better to paint them from life or from a picture you took yourself. Just my opinion.
