Talking Are you going to TAD 2011 Entertainment Art Online??? INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE!

Hey guys, being part right now of TAD to be a student next year, I would like to create a place in here to know each other, so the list of questions that I put here are:

    0. WHOOOO ARE YOU!!!!
    1. Where are you from?
    2. What are your TAD expectations, fears, and all the roller coaster of emotions of this journey???
    3. Are you working right know? How do you think you can manage it?
    4. Are you planning to go to US for the 3 week workshops?
    5. How the industry is moving in your country, do you think you can apply all that you're going to learn to the environment you are?

Well I think we can add more and more on the way

Mines are! Vicente Numpaque 25 years old on december! I'm from Bogota Colombia, y do 3d sculpting of characters in a postproduction company called RCN Comerciales
My expectations are everything, I'm hoping for the best, even if i'm online I want to know every single teacher and TAD, learn and make friends, I think it's important in this way that you not only think of learning but at the same time learn from other people experiences, that makes us grow a lot, We are different ages, sex, and cultures, combine all that together can be definitely a power source for what is about to come, who knows, that people that you don't know maybe can be your partner at a game studio!

At this moment for January I can't go to the workshop I need to save money, get a visa, I think that's a fear for me, to be limited when the day is coming for the workshops, also I think I would like to be present in a onsite class, that would be tons of times better. For now, my inversion in life is to get in TAD no matter how, and the online thing is the best for those who can't go onsite at this moment.

The industry here... Well I think there's a lot of movement, but there are a lot of things that need to be fixed, one of those is that we need a career, a place where people doesn't learn just a software, we need concepts, more work on ideas, that's what we need, Serious formation it's important to people.

One of my fears often comes when I think I need to get out to US to find a job, because we here are often sorrounded by very little creativity from the agency s, they only look for ideas on youtube, and that can be frustrating to know that you don't have to think, you have to do what is in the reference!

Well, let's gets started people, I think if teachers can say just a little Hi here, and their thoughts on online education will be really worth!!

    Thanks

Hi everyone! My name is Adam and I'm planning on attending TAD this fall, online. One of my big concerns is how exactly the class times are structured, as I work a full-time job and evenings are pretty much all I have open most of the week.

Obviously, I will have to make adjustments in my work schedule, but in order to keep paying for school I cannot afford to significantly cut down my hours at work.

Can anyone help me with this, please?

I'm very excited about this place, and hope to have a great learning experience and meet a lot of new and interesting people here!

Hey guys, i'm not attending TAD just yet mainly because of the fact that it's an online school, but i'm still very interested in it. I live in California and i'm surrounded by great art schools and I'm only 15 minutes away from San Francisco. The reason i'm interested in TAD is mostly due to it's price tag. I'm a poor guy and I have no support from family plus no money saved for school. I was about to attend a school called Expressions in California. The reason I'm not attending Expressions and all the others like it here in Cali is because at the end of the day, I would be in 80 to 100,000 dollars in debt. TAD is almost less than half the price as any art school here in Cali. So the reason i'm posting here is that I want to ask you guys why you chose to attend TAD. The school does sound great, everyone is considered for a scholarship, top professionals working in the industry teaching students, and so on. I'm very apprehensive to the idea of an online school due to the disconnect of student to school staff. I don't like the fact that the teacher can't easily walk up and just take a look at what you're doing and give you corrections on the spot. Not to mention, how does an earned online degree look to an employer. If any of you could answer any of these questions I would be more than great full. THANKS!

Hi, I'm Amber and I'm attending TAD this fall as an Entertainment 2D major. The reason JohnBoy.3 decided not to enroll in TAD is the reason I decided to join.

It's because I live in Puerto Rico and can't move for some time. Let me tell you, the schools over here are lame. Very very veeerrry lame. The fact I can attend such a high quality class from where I am that isn't over 100k is good enough for me to apply.

I plan on studying with TAD side by side my current study with another online university for a degree. How am I gonna pay for it all? Heh heh...still working on that one, but I'm very motivated.

My biggest fears include paying tuition and materials (especially materials since I'll probably have to get them online or far away since there's o place nearby). I also would like to go to the Workshop and wondering if I can make that work too.

Another fear is since it's online, it'll be easier to procrastinate (well it's a small fear since I realize a normal school is just as easy to procrastinate as an online one unless you freaking study 24/7 and do all your assignments in class). Also, drawing is really fun, even when it's frustrating as hell, so I'm not too worried.

I currently have a part time job, and I also wonder if I can keep it while still attending school.

Once I graduate from both my schools (and my little brother is able to get around on his own), I plan on moving to someplace in the USA and looking for work for film concept art, or comic industry, or just freelancing both for art and writing.

The art industry here is pretty near non-existent so that's another obstacle I will have to take on. I plan on searching my ass off for any help I will need, but I think as long as I work hard enough on my own, I'll do alright.

Hi my name is Shin. I am 31 and i am from Malaysia. I have a bachelors in business admin and has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 8 years. My dream is to be an artist so i quit my day job to become an artist. I joined an art college here the One academy (the best in Malaysia even SEA!) in Malaysia to boost my learning curve.

I am so happy to be able to join TAD and am very optimistic about it. I attended some of Jason online critiques and all i can say its better than the classroom environment. Teaching is constant, questions always addressed, everybody can see the demos clearly and its a recording we can go back to revise or take down new notes even! ... this does not happen in a realife classroom. Love it! Thanks Jason Manley Thanks TAD for this opportunity!

Great thread started hear to get introductions rolling. I just wanted to chime in as a second semester TAD student. The instructors and students in TAD are one of a kind and you will be hard pressed to find them anywhere else except the most expensive and top art schools in the world. Our student talent already rivals those top art schools and many of the students are getting close to a pro level only after about a year of school. If you have the determination and the desire to work hard you will flourish in TAD. Looking forward to meeting all of you in the future!
