Probably won't update this very often...
These days I mostly do portraits (I don't do this for a living... Just requests from friends):
I really love life drawing, but rarely get to do any....
I also really love anime...

Plenty of room for improvement. Looking forward to more!

Yes, indeed. It's not something I'm particularly focusing on right now. Baby steps for now...![]()
What the professional asshole meant to say was- "awesome work, keep it up"
Looking good man. I like the rending you have on the girl doing the gun sign. Very nice side lighting.
Starting a 'portrait-a-day' 30-day challenge. I hope to use different kinds of techniques and play with styles. I will be pretty limited on media though.
Day: 1
Time: 30~ mins
Reference used.
Thoughts:
Being the first portrait I've done in a while (and with traditional media) I feel somewhat satisfied. I'm not overly proud or enthused with this piece, but rather just contempt. I tried to use as few construction lines as possible. I wanted to test my observation skills. I'm not happy with a lot of things in the picture. Mainly the eyes and mouth area. I tried limit the amount of eraser used. Overall, I think it's a good start.
Day: 2
B]Time:[/B] 50~ mins
Reference used.
Thoughts:
I'm not if I like how this one turned out. I think in the final stages of the drawing I lost track of what I originally set out to do. I thought I was going to ink the entire drawing, but then I suddenly realised I shaded most of it. I think I'm having the most trouble with eyes, mouth/teeth, and hair. I think with the hair, I have to concentrate more on where the strands are originating from and getting a natural flow. For the eyes, I think I need more construction lines to match up with the reference same with the mouth. I know my shading needs more work. In future, I might try and work on my cross-hatching. But for tomorrow, I think I will try cubism.
Day: 3
Time: 80~ mins
Reference used.
Thoughts:
Here is day 3. This one took much longer than I would have liked. I thought I was going to do cubism, but turns out I didn't actually know what cubism really was. I'm not sure this piece still falls under that category. I tried to simplify the shapes and keep the same values as the reference. I found this piece really hard at first, but the more I worked on it, the more enjoyable it became. I am also severely sleep deprived. I took up some life drawing classes. I start this Saturday, I hope it will improve my overall ability.
Day: 4
Time: 45~ mins
Reference used.
Thoughts:
I think this piece is pretty much a failure, and I don't think I'm being too hard on myself. What I tried to go for is capturing the expression as best I could. I just don't feel like this piece carries as strong an impact as the reference does. I think I need to improve my line work. I feel I'm a little too indecisive when creating my lines. And I need to put more thought into each stroke. If I had used single strong lines, I think it would have been better. Next time I might try blind contour drawing, but I really don't think it will help with my drawing ability.
Day: 6
Time: 115~ mins

TBA
Day: 7
