    Iloomi(s)nate me!

I got my hands on my girlfriends scanner, so I hope the image quality is better from now on!
I started doing Loomis "Figure Drawing for what it's worth", made the first few pages. I started them a few days ago, the last upload were from those, now I came to the dynamic mannequin section.

It got easier and easier to copy them, but when I made my own it was still a little hard, I don't know, maybe I was a little focussed on getting them like the ones Loomis did, so I just was a little... cramped?
Anyway, this is what I got!

    Hey!
It´s wonderful that you study Loomis, his books are very helpfull and inspiring. But don´t do just that, you practice anatomy and stuff to be able to do something with this knowledge. What is that something for you? Keep at this and learn the basics along- Drawing has to be fun after all.
A small sketchbook and a pen (a black one you can not erease) served me well when I started drawing, it makes your lines more confident and you´ll be able to see much better after a while.

    About digital media:
I don´t think it´s wrong to use that right away. It´s like if I told you not to use coloured pencil for a few years, a computer is a medium like lots of others. You need to get used to it anyway someday, so you could start out right away if you wanted to. It won´t make you draw better instantly, but using watercolour will neither. You see what I mean, just experiment with the media you like and enjoy it.

Hey guys. Didnt draw yesterday, because I knitted this for my girlfriend. Took me about 5 hours and it's made of 3 different tissues. When you open the fly, there's a layer of red tissue, so it seems as if it's an open mouth.
Because of the image quality, the colours are a little off, I think it looks a little pink-ish, but it's play blue/white.

Ah, and this is a so called "sorrow-eater", you can write down your sorrows and he devours them so you have no sorrows anymore
I did this because my gf has her examination and I though maybe it helps her

Good start, my advice for someone at this point of development is always to get hold of a book that shows in understandable terms how the body is segmented in volumes, heavy 'artist anatomy' books can be too overwhelming, so look for the Stan Lee book 'How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way', that got me started with solid advice when i started. Then I got a ream of copier paper and a drawing board and just kept scribbling. Don't dwell on a drawing, paper's cheap, so rather do many experiments to understand anatomy and mass. Forget detail for now, fingernails and eyebrows can be sorted out later.

    Hope this helps.

Another tip, learn to draw well before diving head first into digital, because it's easy to make things look pretty, but if your drawing skills is lacking, then it's built on a shaky base. But you're on the right track, so DRAW DRAW DRAW.

    H

Didnt update for long, I was a tad lazy, but I did some 20 pages of posemaniacs that I don't want to upload, because I think it's not too interesting.
Here is some scribbles I did, my sketchbook is not included in those, but I have to go to uni now

Today I did some Loomis again, tryed putting the mannequin in boxes and perspective.
I took a ballpoint pen to get my lines better, it was quite fun and I really like sketching with ballpoint!
Just 4 because I have to go to uni now.

The picture that backward text says:Copied, because I copied it directly from the loomis book... I just could get to do it myself, as you can see now. the left one looks off... Thats mine

Hey guys. No time no update, I know, because my gf took her scanner back to her place....
Well, I was working on that piece this morning, and I feel, I'm just not getting it.

The first one is the sketch in my sketchbook that I took a photo off, and the second one just becomes ugly.
I just don't know how and where to start, drawing with PS....

I try to make some WIP pictures later so you guys can see how I tend to work, maybe you can help me!

Hey there! keep up the drawing. there are no special tricks to help you get better faster. its all practice. Just draw every day an surround yourself with good art. Really look at images and see what makes them great work. Line thickness/characteristics, values and colors are always great to work on as well as figure drawings. If you want to get better at somthing specific, make that your focus.
Well keep at it friend and you will have a 5star sketch book in no time = )
