    Hey guys,

It's been a while since I updated this sketchbook. Since my last post I started training as a 3d environment artist for games and somehow ended up working as a Level Designer at Codemasters which (while totally awesome) has eaten up pretty much all of my time.

Super bummed out over my lack of painting over the past couple of months but I'm hopefully going to get back into the swing of things. First four images were done during lunch at work using a mouse and the trusty lasso tool and the fifth is a study of one of Feng Zhu's paintings.

A portrait of a friend. Used photo reference and tried to pick the colours by eye without resorting to the eyedropper.

Another Wipeout-e concept. Struggled to get the values down with this and it's resulted in a pretty muddy image :/

Most of these are scrumptious, some nigh mouthwatering. I think one of your best qualities has to be imagination: there is never a shortage of it in your work so keep using that to your advantage. Nice grip on getting those picturesque angles and perspectives. Good luck this week moogster

Vulgar: I appreciate the comment Vulgar, I never really know how my work is perceived (I tend to be unhappy with everything I do and hastily move onto the next painting) so it's cool to hear someone digs it.

Working on some scifi ship designs for a detailed painting I plan to do down the line for an art jam at work. Focused on getting the core values and lighting down within the first 5-10 minutes, something I'll definitely continue to do from now on.

Staal Sander: Thanks man, it sucks I never feel like I'm improving all that much

Top 3 are studies from photographs, I'm trying to get a better understanding of colour! Bottom is non-refrenced sillyness.

Two more pieces for my work's art jam, going in a new direction (think 1984 but with AI's). Second image is still very much a WIP, clean edges are sexy but man are they time consuming T_T.

wow man there is so much developpement on this page. it start with really minimalistic gradient paintings, to really clean and detailed stuff. especially your concepts with the giant head are stunning. reminds me a lot of system shock and for some reason the new deus ex 3. digging how clean your work look

Dude, you've got some pretty sweet work in here, i'm especially drawn to your environments. You manage to capture scale on much better level than i do, and im very envious of that. If you have some free time, you should check out my sketchbook, cuz im interested in doing some collaborative work with you!

    Velocity Kendall: Thanks man
Qikalain: Thanks! I've really been trying to brush up on the fundamentals, especially on lighting and composition.
    Hair Fish: Thanks
Vulgar`: Thanks Vulgar, I don't like to let myself feel to comfortable, onwards and upwards!
LePush: Thanks a lot man. I'll take a good look through your SB when it's not 2 in the morning. Colab work would be fun but not something I have the time for right now.

Posting another jam piece, still working on this one, going to add some ships in the sky and possibly a little more ground detail to help convey the scale of the structure. Also attached are some poorly scanned 15 minute life drawing poses (charcoal)

Stupendously unproductive weekend and only just finished this piece of. Didn't quite capture the scale I wanted, I didn't really want to add the humans but I was struggling to get any sense of scale without them.

Another jam piece, in colour! I have no idea what I'm doing >_>

Steps included for those interested in that kind of thing (compressed because of CA's ridiculous size limit).

Attended a new life drawing class at the weekend, really enjoyed working with charcoal despite how much I struggled with it, definitely going to look to do some more traditional stuff. Also a head study and two very quick sketch colour themed sketches, going to work the green one into a much more complete image.
