    Your sketches are getting better, keep up the good work.

    I think your work is a little too concerned with the two dimensional right now. Right now I think you should do a few sketches that specify on NOTHING but three dimensional forms. I'd say still do figures (as that seems to be the element I'm trying to discuss), but simplify everything down to bare cylinders and spheres.

    Study the rib cage more, learn it in and out. Do the same thing with every other part of the body, think about form and learn to see these things as 3D forms so you can start making the Z axis work more in your pictures.

    Keep going, you're working hard!

    Thanks for dropping by my SB.
    Very cool stuff in here! Remember to not exaggerate muscles that much and start with some nice solid brushstrokes to lay a good base for colour/value work. Think in masses, draw in outlines, like good old Bridgman teaches.
    Keep it up, you're doing good!

    @Fallenangel
    I'm working on my line smoothenes. I find it quite difficult, even when I'm doing still life studies on the big format, when all my lines come from the elbow my lines are not so accrued I want them to be. I think this is one of those things that will come naturally with time. I'll pay more attention to my lines in the future drawings. Thanks for the hint, and for visiting my SB .

    @Quigleyer
    I did as you advised, and I must say, that is much easier to put value when I bring up everything to simplest 3d objects. Sure this is one of the most basic principles, but I seemed to be forgetting about it. I appreciate.

    @Rotor
    And I thank you for dropping inn, and the advice. When I raised opacity off my brushes, suddenly the problem of muddiness of my paintings disappeared. Thanks

    Today I present another sketch of the character. This time I spent on it much more time. About 3,5 h, I'm not sure, cuz I took lot of short breaks . It's not perfect, but at least I learned something. Next one probably I'll do in color, any suggestions about coloring? xD

    Wow, you have some cool updates in this page From #94, your gestures are much stronger... I'm impressed
    {Human figures are very hard for me but people like you show it's not impossible to improve at them, just need some practice and study. Still, I need to break a wall somehow as the first step... }

    The armor in the last update seems... what's the opposite of flat? Too bad the face and hand don't match that level... It seems you rushed the human part.

    There ya go man. The painted sketch is looking pretty good. For next time (because you're going to want to try it again, right?) I'd say open up pictures of people. Don't think about any particular poses or anything, just find references of the human body. I find that, even when I do figures from my head, that I really get help from just having opened pictures around me. It helps remind me of what I'm painting.

    When you begin adding color I would do it with a base color to begin with. I like to have a color scheme somewhat thought up and I like that base color to be the compliment of my dominant color, so that the parts that I miss help to create contrast. Color isn't just something you can "do" though (but playing with it never hurts). You really should study some outdoor scenes and paint from life to try and get some knowledge of color temperatures, value patterns, saturations, color variability and all of that jazz.

    So much happened since the last time I was here.
    I am sorry about my absence, but Gibson run the
    lawnmower over my body as I was taking an afternoon nap
    in the lawn. Your random thumbs look great, that dragon
    warrior in the middle is so awesome. You should do more a lot of
    these mini thumbs, cause they are helping you for sure.
    The grisaille paintings of yours are outstanding, and for sure
    you are doing them right, as for coloring, try to run an 'overlay'
    layer over your black and white paintings and try to put some
    colors over them. Quigleyer also gave you a good advice about
    coloring, so I guess that you have plenty of knowledge to start
    the magic again.
    Cheers.

    Thanks Snake, I'm trying to get better everyday. Still have long way ahead me. I'll get there someday.

    Another character sketch, I think I must do some referenced studies. I've notice I have problems with convincing forms.

    You are developing a very nice style and this
    last illustration looks promising, and has a very
    good atmosphere. I would gone more darker
    and with a bigger contrast on the lower left
    part of the painting, with the characters.
    Would put more of the focal point of them.
    You are doing fine my friend, keep on working
    on your skills and try to post even more often,
    even if there are an unfinished pieces happens,
    you just post them, so we could discuss it a bit,
    that way you will improve even more faster.

    wow, your work is turning out better and better. Just keep up with it, and take some extra time to REALLY finish a couple of pieces while you've got the enthusiasm. use these as markers for comparing your pieces down the road you should do the exact same thing to . It's like "maxing out" your bench press! It's a benchmark for you to break.

    The last piece looks pretty good, but you could definitely spend more time on it and see what happens, that's what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying you should do it with that painting necessarily, but sooner or later here plan to settle down and pull your hair out with one. I think there are things you aren't learning and getting used to because your "finished" is getting too early for you, really push a piece and make practice of further rendering your paintings and how to do it. It's gonna be rough the first couple, but then it's just like all other aspects of art- you start catching on and it gets fun.

    Good, solid referencing will probably help out a lot here. That's kind of why you have "prepare" for it, I think. Take the time to compose a composition, use thumbnails to start and build up sketches. Organize it and try to create a workflow that saves you time later. I'm just babbling now, so I'm out .

    Just my opinion.

    Last work is really amazing ! I like also your thumbnails, they look very promising. As for characters I like them as well but it may be helpful to have references when paining them. Like some pictures you can use for pose, another for material, for details, for face, for colors... So it's not copying, but help in your creative process.

    @LtPlissken
    Thank you for your comment and encouragement my friend. It's always good to see you.

    @Quigleyer
    Thank you for your advices. They really helpful, I have an idea for painting, that will be fully finished. When I get some free time I'll sacrifice it to make my illustration as polished as I can get it . Thanks, I really appreciate your presence.

    @RBeek
    A series of this kind of drawings you say? It seems to be a good idea. I'll consider it seriously, when I'll fully recover my health (been a little sick lately), and I stop listen to manson. It's a little hard to do cute, cartoony stuff while listening this kind of music XD. Thank you for your comment and encouragement .

    @devastacio
    I'm glad you dropped in. You should do it more often, and perhaps, update your SB as well .

    @Sivonja
    Thanks. For most my drawings I'm using good old photoshop.

    It was longe time, since I last visited CA. I've been busy lately so I didn't had the chance to post all stuff I did and post in your sketchbooks. I'll try to catch up with your sketchbooks in nearest couple of days . That's all for today. Cheers.
