As was mentioned previously, you may want to work on the construction of the body in addition to this stuff. I can see them going somewhere, but not without a grounding in the fundamentals of anatomy.

Hi there, you've already heard all of the anatomy whatsits. I'd like to see some playtime with line. Your recent post looks pretty bland and uniform. Have fun with it!

Okay I'm tired of people telling me to study anatomy. I'm going to take a break from my girl exercise, the halfway point seems like a good place, and do 30 days of anatomy and basic structures.

The goal is to study a new part a day and each part from the previous days.

Felt like starting with the ribcage

my cat deleted all of the layers and then walked all over the keyboard as to max out the undo history. So the work from yesterday was lost. oooops.

it would be useful to make a video of myself drawing a shape, the ribcage for example, and then watch it in a mirror. I'd like to see the exact moments when i start creating a shape that isn't symmetrical at all but that my mind believes is close

a lot of interesting ratios for the arms and hands..

I thought my stylus was broken because my cat keeps thinking it's her arch rival

    which it is

I tried a different tip and the pressure problem was solved immediately! It was really annoying too because it would detect pressure even not being pressed. Which not only drags annoying lines all over the place until you lift the stylus very high, it also prevents switching to the eraser tool, and makes it hard to use the ruler..

All in all, whew* glad I don't have to hunt down a wacom store in seoul

kiwigarbage: Thanks! doesn't feel like i'm doing it fast enough or well enough but.. i guess that's the road

started doing some copies("analysis") out of mangas, thought it would help to see how other artists i admire have made the transition to paper... really wish i could see their process too

some of these last studies are coming along really well. Good thing that you started doing 30 days of anatomy, although I don't envy you! I would not want to do 30 days straight of anatomy. The secret is to do little and often once you have a good foundation knowledge (or so I've heard lol).

No crits really you seem to be working hard and that is 90% of the battle to success.

Keep going and I'll be back to check out the progress

Hello there, just looked through your whole sketchpad. Glad you're starting to push through your boundaries and doing plenty of studies.
I notice you're also doing the same thing with noses I used to. It feels odd drawing noses 'normal' sized at first, and you'll have to urge to 'make it right' but once you start, you'll realize how off they look when they're altered to be smaller.

Anyways, its refreshing to see you're working hard. Keep up the good work!

Also, why not check these guys too?

ThomasM: Thanks, although as you may have noticed it fell away from anatomy after a while and just became 'whatever'. I'll definitely go back and rework things out from their base again later though. Thanks for checking out my book ^^

    Sean: haha.. thanks man, someday..

Naidy: yeah your noses are looking good, i've checked out your sketchbook a few times before. Thanks for taking a look at mine ^^

I was drawing every day but it was so hard to get myself to do it that i wasn't happy with any of the effort. I'm still not

it's a mix of manga studies and random stuff from imagination. the author of 'Battle Angel Alita', Yukito Kishiro, has an amazing sense of perspective. He is able to draw characters at any size clearly, while manipulating their limbs. This lets him put in a lot of really nice shots from a distance that emphasize the action. Which he is also a master of. The dynamic of his scenes are second to none.

Oh! Great is also able to create exceptionally dynamic scenes, which are even more detailed and clear in concept. I can't wait to see what his next series will be about.

    todays dump

breaker is nice, partly because it's korean, but the women really do have a different style than japanese manga

ahahah.. i just realized i don't appreciate it when the authors whine about their poor skills on the last page of a manga, so probably people with no hands dont like when i whine

also a thought occurred to me that when i was trying to draw people my drawings came out better because people are harder and i tried harder, but now that i'm trying to copy relatively easier manga pictures my effort level dropped proportionately.. not a fun thought, i'd rather think i'm depressed than mechanically lazy
