    What paper should I use?

    Hey conceptart!
I want to do a piece for a friend of IronMan. Just a drawing with graphite and a touch of pen.

I'm torn between using good BFK paper or Illustration board. I'm more comfortable with the paper but some people are telling me to use board.

    What do you guys think?

Nobody? What would be better for a quality drawing? Good paper like BFK paper or illustration board?

Nobody answered because nobody knows what you're trying to do.

Do you want a pure white surface or toned paper?
Do you want to have the texture of the paper show through in the final work?
Do you want a smooth, texture free rendering in graphite?

This is why different papers exist, to give you options.

I would say between the options, that it would be more of a personal choice than a technical one. They would both work well for drawings. I personally like the texture of paper more than that of illustration board when I am using dry media like pencil and charcoal. However, I like illustration board better for inks and markers.

This is why it's best to go out and actually use and experiment with different materials so you can find out what works best for you.
