Problem and how to fix it?

So i started researching stuff about human anatomy i practice a lot its been about a year or so..but when it comes to want to draw some face i end up doing him comic style instead of realistic what should i do to avoid that..

im new here as well

focus on accurate shape and value. Specifically make sure you don't exagerate features by constantly measuring for correct proportion.

Well it seems you can identify that your drawings don't look realistic, so ask yourself why and what would make it look realistic, than go from there with research. Sometimes stepping back and just looking at your progress can help a lot.

Stop drawing symbols and draw what you see. This takes practice in the form of not only months but years.

In other words, stop just looking at what some comic book tells you how to draw an eye, learn to see what is there. That's the point of life drawing, not some shortcuts.

Draw real people in front of you. Your mental library contains only what you've already been drawing....hence comic faces. I had/have the same problem. Draw from reference AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

You just got to take the advice in this thread and keep trying. :/ Everyone has used different methods to practice but one thing every good artist has in common is that they just kept working. Eventually you will see improvement.

Newtone, what is shown in the link is structure. This is what makes any drawing look realistic. Form ! You've been drawing things in 2D, as symbols places on top of each other. That's why they look cartoony, because you have been drawing cartoons. You need to escape your preconceptions and draw in 3D ! Find as much material as you can and go through it to find out what fits you best (For example, Loomis's ball and plane method dosen't click with me, but everything else in that book is freaking priceless). All the while draw everyone from life (secretly until you're good enougth to show them )

Get your hands on a skull. Draw that from various angles.

Learn the anatomy and proportions of the face. How the muscles attach, how they are shaped.You can get that from most anatomy books.

Do self-portraits.

frankly I dont know if this is going to help, in the end these also look like yet another set of symbols that will get stored in memory.
The problem with drawing non realistic faces when you are attempting realistic one is that even though you are looking at the object infront of you, you are taking from the knowledge or habit you have learned over the years when you draw, you have to sort of unlearn it by probably overwriting it with newer/better approach to drawing.
Make measurements, see more and draw less, dont guess while you are shading, be prepared to make corrections instead of just going on. Do not go for any how to draw books, they suck. Dont try to consult your memory just of now(you will only be accessing to those older habits, do lots of studies, especially from masters like velasquez.
Keep at it.

I don't see much construction going on there, even though its a step up from the previous one, much more appealing too.
But its looking like a naruto style face, not that there is anything wrong with that but the problem with people doing anime style is that they don't understand master mangakas has stylized reality to suit their needs and made the "ANIME" style, its another stylization that gets misinterpreted by many because of its outward nature.
And people just copy the symbols not what they represent. And anime style suffers.

Most good anime studios only hire artists with years of life and figure drawing behind them.
