    insanelight's sketchbook - a waste of graphite

    Ciao.
My name is Gabriele and I'm a freelance programmer from Italy.
I'm registered on CA since 2003 because drawing is by years my favourite activity during my spare time. I posted only few works in the past, some old 3D stuff and digital paintings (I was not very active).

I'm currently working mostly with pencils... well, I have just started!
I hope you will enjoy my sketchbook, comments are always welcome
Oh, you can also visit my personal blog at http://gabrielefabbri.wordpress.com/

Thank you for your comment Brain!
I don't know how to answer to your question: usually I start with a very generic idea about the subject in my mind, but only while I draw I get more concrete and precise ideas.
Concering the technique... this is a great compliment! I just started drawing with pencils, but I have a quite strong background about shading values from the school.

Oh wow, a lot of oddities in here!
I suggest you do more figures and anatomy though cause I can see that slippin off. Keep posting though. I can see that you've got no problem with coming up with disturbing things haha

Great imagination! I love seeing odd/creepy things.
Like others have said, there's no harm doing anatomy studies to strengthen your concepts.

Hell, you could even find ways to make the studies you're doing look dark and eiree.

Good start, hope to see more soon.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I’m waiting for a couple of books I have ordered about anatomy. I hope they will help me on this hard matter.
I confirm: I like draw creepy and disturbing things... a lot.

Yeah, no doubt you have an interesting mind
Working on your anatomy will really pay off in these kind of drawings. All these deformations will look amazing once built on a solid understanding of anatomy.
    Keep it up!

Hey mate, thanks for the sb post! I'm loving your ideas, very creepy stuff. Do you watch/read a lot of horror?
Seems to fit, everything's got that dark, brooding mood. Like everyone's saying, keep practicing, work on your forms and pay attention to the effect of light.
    Cheers!

    Thanks for your feedbacks.
I’m not very addicted to horror movies or books, they make me laughing I have to say… I prefer thriller movies and thriller/noir books.
I love strange/creepy/nasty (but clever) things, in general.

hahah damn that's some pretty warped imagination right there, I like, gonna enjoy seeing where this sketchbook goes, also very nice work on the still life/ realistic reference drawings, the fly and rock are spot on, only advice I could add would be the same as everyone else, drawing from reference and anatomy studies are going to be useful here, but yeah, so far so good

nice stuff sir! =D im assuming that you work from photographs, and theres nothing wrong with it, just be carefull with the rendering and edges, you using as a reference not a substitute of life. keep up the good work!

Yes, latest two works are from reference of course.
Could you explain me better what you mean when you say "be careful with the rendering and edges"? I would really apreciate some technical tip from you.
