You are a real hard worker my dear friend.
I can see that now. You are becoming better
and better thanks to your relentless study pace.

    Plissken: Thanks!

    Updates...
    Not much today.
TOMORROW I HAVE PROJECT PRESENTATION. ARGH.
    I have the speech. FFFFF
    Not nice
    I hate doing presentations

I have some stuff that must become finished in the works too. I just do many studies D= (or for mee it is many, I do not know when it's many or less)
I will post something finished soon. I promise!

    For now:
    Loomis + train/school sketches

On the last picture I drew a window (with weird..failed... perspective) from life.
    Oh and pipes stuff.
Oh and that weird thing you won't recognize is my bracelet around my arm
But I didn't draw the hand
    because there was no space
    I should go off.

    Yaaay presentations are done!
I finally get back to finishing things (oh and I updated my self-portraits thread too).

    Here are the updates...
    1. Gundam Strike Noir portrait. I am so done with painting this... I just do not know what to add anymore.
    2. Photostudy of my little hamster. I took the picture and did a study of it.
3, 4, 5, 6: drawing my classmates/people in trains etc + some lost zoo sketches
The guys are all standing that way because there were presentations. It is quite remarkable but they all stand like that except the one who is presenting at that time.

I do like your still life drawings/observations - it's your images that make me want to grab a sketchpad and draw what I see around me - (which I did after reading your posts yesterday), although all I drew on were post it notes..When I look at your SB, I just get the ethos and feeling of 'Observe and Draw'.

The lab picture, I get the impression that the girl was hard at work and the guy next to her was maybe resting for a bit or wondering what she was up too.

    @Steveland: You mean this picture: http://attachments.conceptart.org/fo...1&d=1309202595 ?
The guy and girl are no way related in real life (though the sketch may suggest something else haha). The girl was sitting in the train and I drew that guy at school. xD
I am glad my drawings motivate you.
I will have less of that observational work the coming months since I do not have to go to school for a while. I will get back to them a lot when school starts again...

First some highlights from my self-portraits thread:

Hey Sushy, keep the good pace up! There is some wonderful stuff here - are you still a computer engineering major as you said you were on the first page?

Those self portraits look good. It's great to see you experimenting with different mediums and styles.
There seems to be problems with rest of the works. I for one can't see them.

@Kerah: Thanks! Yeah I sadly still am studying Computer Engineering. I hate it with more passion now. I sometimes dream of going back to art schools and such.

@Ville_S: Yeah I see it! They just disappeared, must be something wrong. I reupload them in this post.

Something went wrong so here are the images/updates again:

    1. I finished an experimental acrylic painting. It is a still life... xD I plan on exploring this technique some more.

    2. I doodled some romantic furries and coloured it.

    3. Photostudy of my little hamster (I took a photo of him and painted it, my hamster moves too quick to draw from life).

I gave up my formal scientific degree pursuit (math) and now concentrating on art only, you know, trying to live up to the saying of 'do what you love'. Maybe you can do it too, but perhaps for some it's too drastic of a measure *shrug*

@Kerah: well I first have to get this degree so that my parents stop whining. After this degree it will be free range. I might try to get in an art school, do some courses or just freelance away.

Not much to show for today's updates...
I released a new page for my web comic: http://fantasypower.net

    Updates...
    1. Loomis studies
    2. Vanderpoel studies
    3. something that started out as a doodle.
This PSD went thruogh some nasty stuff. My computer got stuck saving it and placed the End of File at the wrong place. I find this very weird, if my computer got stuck saving it, when was that EOF placed then? Or is it some emergency measurement like "if a process hangs, place the EOF right away"? Maybe Windows 7 isn't that logical xD
Or maybe Photoshop places EOFs not at the end? LOL
Or maybe Photoshop gives incorrect errors... When programming I worry the least about error handling as well haha

Anyway, Photoshop could not open the PSD anymore because the EOF was at the wrong place. I managed to get this PSD recovered thanks to some online tool...
Oh gosh most painful moment of the day.
Even though this psd was a doodle at first, I really started to like it.
But anyway, here is it so far. It is not finished yet. And everytime I hit "Save" I am scared it gets stuck again xD

Why do I even rant about this

Today's updates are only some studies from life.

First some studies of my feet...

This afternoon I did a session with my "models": two guinea pigs, a rabbit and a
    cat.
The other images show the results of that. It was hard because the guinea pigs kept moving.
And the rabbit was sitting somewhere where I couldn't really see him well (it was sunny and he was sitting in the shadow while I was in the sun)

Last one is a quick mosquito sketch from a photo.

    And more!

First some contours of fruit (from life), then some cars from photos and then I wanted to draw some cars from life. So I went outside and picked some cars from a street.
And some Pokemon fan art XD

The jaguar car looks really good, perhaps slightly tilted to one side, or is it just me?
You're updating regularly, I can't imagine how hard it is keeping up with a busy degree and drawing so much. Or is it summer vacation for you already?

@Steveland: Thanks! Yeah I used to be a pokemonfan. ^^

@Kerah: Yeah there is something wrong with that Jag, most of my car drawings are out of proportion I have noticed. I just need to practice them more! D=
Yeah I have vacation now. It can be very frustrating to keep up with that degree when all I want is drawing... It is drawing that keep me going. If my day only consisted of my school stuff I probably would go mad.
I should be way more productive during this vacation, but that does not seem the case o_0

    Anyway, today's updates:
    Loomis studies and a photostudy.

And oh noes I have to go to the dentist today! One of my worst fears.........

And I discovered sewing! I am not very good at it, but I found it really fun. Next time I make sure the wires are ... in ... the ... right ... way... I have no idea how to say that LOL
Anyway, I tried to make a fish plush.

Other than that I did some Loomis studies...

Hey Sushy! I can definitely see some improvement here compared to the first page. Your studies are quite nice, but the creative stuff is lacking. Perhaps you can combine the two by using references as you come up with your own things. Take for instance the Pokemon playing baseball- while it may be a cartoon character, you could find references of batters online to help with the pose. The same goes for the the Dark angel character. At the moment he looks very rigid and flat. With references of anatomy and wings, you could have drawn him looking more natural and believable. That's not to say you can't still stylize things, of course!

Liking the "sketches", shows that you're really working well to keep things dynamic and proportional in your work.

Didn't notice it, but I do like the must learn anatomy cartoon.

The self portrait looks great - have to say that art folder looks huge!

@Steveland: haha that cartoon was drawn very quickly XD I tend to do random stuff next to my Loomis studies...
Yeah that art folder is quite big. That illustration is a portrait of me when I went to art school... I had to take that folder with me at least two days a week (and sometimes even more). We had to work on rather big surfaces (A2).

Here is an update on that imagination self-portrait thing (more in my self-portraits thread):

Then... Environments for the study group.

And furthermore [attached] some hands studies and a croissant.
I drew that croissant today because I was mad at myself for not being as productive as I planned this summer.

    hey sushy
Don't be mad with yourself about productivity, just draw! What a terrible advice giver, huh?
Anycat, how about splashing in more details in those landscape studies? I don't know how easily you handle them, but more details would probably help make you better at those.

The Loomis studies look good, how about some more? What are you concentrating on right now? Or are you just practicing whatever you wish?

Oh, and thanks for drawing that portrait of mine that was really cool, I appreciate the initiative!

Stay strong, enjoy the summer, down some beers and draw some cool stuff!

@Kerah: Thanks Well maybe the "just draw" advice is the best advice given ever XD
The landscape studies were quite lowres so I found it hard to add more details (which is weird, I mean I could always have made pixel art of it D= )
    I guess I try better next time. ^^;
I am not really concentrating on something, I just try to fill a sketchbook with Loomis studies because I want to have it full within two weeks (weird reason I know... xD).

Well well here are today's updates... I have to go to the docter and I am nervous about it so I am posting here for distraction!

    First of all, some sketching...

In the second sketch I wanted to make the first sketch, but bigger and more sophisticated but for some reason I cannot achieve the same gesture for the creature. So the first sketch is better (in my opinion) but I am frustrated that I cannot sketch it bigger and better and will have to stick with the first one! D=
(and it was done on scrap paper, rather unintended)

Further... More Loomis (trying to get that sketchbook full).

I like the monster sketch. Especially the first. Not because of the gesture- they're a bit too similar for me to really tell a difference... No, I like the first one because it has other characters. Perhaps try doing some 30 second gesture drawings to loosen yourself up a bit. Both sketches seem stiff. Understandable since you were nervous about your doctor's visit!

Also, don't forget about references! Maybe even take a picture of yourself doing the pose. I imagine the creature's body would be turning a bit to try and pull harder on his bonds. At the very least, his arms would be swinging to the left.
