J.R.Segura: thank you alot, i like your sketchbook too. You should post more work ! We can learn the basics together and posemanics is addictive

Novak: Im glad you like it, there will be no proces on the sculptures but i will be making new ones, practising the things i learned the last 2 months.

A friend of mine has actual a skeleton. The scull drawings are from life. Random few pages of posemaniacs 15-30s. trying out markers on random faces from google and stuff from imagination.

This page just shows how little i still understand of form, perspective and anatomy......

Back to spamming my own thread ! Have been drawing alot last days, have the Vilppu book, ive seen his videos online, absolutly amazing, now im saving up for his dvds.

Ive set 3 goals for next 30 days. -form - gesture - observation.

SO.... so far alot of frustration adn sometimes a feeling of confidence as i do things right.

    from imagination:

    Hallo,
More pages from today. I found that the pages that look boring and most of the time ugly, like the ones with those lose lines and wobly silhoutes are the ones where i am learning the most. The ones that look better are just things i start to understand and that come more easy. Not saying that they look good or show much knowledge at all, just starting to see a pattern in my sketchbooks.

Traveler: Thank you, i do want to get better...only took me 6 years, droping out of university and having a stupid job to realise that :s

Oke, so i got a chance to buy an intuos4 from a friend, it took a while to figure out the instalation, still have to do the keys and the wheel thingy. Here the first things that are oke to show.

Did one more from imagination to see what i learned the last month, obviously i have the drawing male/female heads from massive black.
Wat is obvious, i dont realy understand lightining, his left eye is messed up, the forehead is formless, some perspective issues. I strugle alot in placing the feuters correct on the head,... best way to improve all that would be drawing from life, i must kick myself in the balls, the weather was great today but i was afraid of going out and draw people...

Nice work man! I think your figures are great, your skulls are decent, and you definetly have the understanding of getting the gesture and pose correct! If you need a CC I'de say I really wanna see you push value studies! Your have the lines, so lets see more examples of the shadow and lighting! Good stuff all around!

Are you planning on expanding your sketches into other areas than human figure? Maybe I just havn't see those yet...

So many studies Looks like they're doing wonders for your lines
But as Rabid said, it might be nice to see maybe some animal studies or something other than humans in there? Just to spice things up a bit

Thank you very much Rabid, i absolutly agree with your comment. It feels like i have a fear of tone, whne i draw its almost a mental thing, i just avoid it, just like learning feet and hands, hair, women faces. But i needed a kick in the ass. You are right i have to push the values and it makes me very uncomfortable. I did some skulls after your comment. Honestly i understand the steps i have to take but for some reason i get very confused in the proces and i am very unpatient, if i can get that out of my way i will improve much more. As for subjects, the next "big thing" that i will do is putting people in a scene, just like that one Loomis page.

Sulphur: thank you, i will make sure that tomorow update will have animals, houses, objects (real objects, not Vilppu's blobs and boxes )

Sorry for the long post, but a thought... is it possible that i dont put the right information on the line drawing and thats why i get confused when i start shading ??

Grafguy: merci , nope geen afgewerkte paints. Ben nog de basics aan het leren, eens dat ik wat over kleur lees misch. Voorlopig alleen studies(vorm,gesture..). btw je schetsboek ziet er goed uit !

Something before bedtime. No idea wats going on with the shapes on the skull, i wasnt concentrated. I tried to do some different poses based on same 2 lines to see wat i can come up with, dont know if thats usefull in any way but it is fun !

Nothing boring about it, Eew! Great stuff here. In a light critique, i would say to keep your drawing cleaner. It could give more fluidity to your drawing. Awesome style, keep studying Loomis and try to look into some Vilppu stuff, his Gesture classes are worthwhile.

TheLonesomeBlues: hey man, all crits are welcome ! I think Loomis is great and im actualy will be buying vilppu's dvds (saving money right now for Vilppu, new pc, Ron Lemens head drawing dvd and obv ca workshop in februari..). Well, since most of this sketches are thumbsize they tend to look messy. I always try out different lines, straight lines , fluid lines, construction, silhoute or swinging my pencil and try to visualise the shape in space first. Dunno if all that is a right way to improve but it is fun to do.

Posemaniacs from this morning, 15-30s on a3. I have this idea of doing them all in one session ? . Wat i try to focus in there is the 3 basic shapes : head, torso, pelvis+legs. Wat i do start to see if i concetrate on diagonals the vertical and horizontal proportions just fall in place by them self.

wow man you draw alot. What you have so far is really good. Especially the quick faces and posemaniacs. Drawing like this you'll be a beast in no time.
