p sage: Thanks, I feel like I've made a few breakthoughs recently.
The baseball bat dude has a t-shirt and no hair, no point in using ref if your going to keep everything the same. Not sure if he's going to stay as a skin head, might give him a baseball cap to go with the bat.
Feel like his expresion should change but I kind of like how passive he looks.

Couple of steampunk attempts, might be doing some contributions to a game in development. Need to take them further.

Robot character, looks weak but good practice rendering.
The feet looked so bad I erased them.

Baboon Skull minotaur.
I was at the pitt rivers museum in Oxford yesterday looking at some of the natural history exhibits. The bull, monkey and dinosaur skeletons got me all inspired.

I downloaded some fur brushes from here http://keepwaiting.deviantart.com/ar...-CS3-103454575 and used them with the brush and burn tool. Its good to get some texture into it.
Thinking it might be ready to start some colour.

Nice work! How do you feel about crits on your WIP?
First stage of a character design, it meant to be in this new steampunk style all the kids are talking about.

I like the minotaur picture a lot but I feel there are some problems which could be addressed.
a perspective issue: the hind leg looks to far out. I think the base of the foot should be a little more left.
The form of the centre is rendered in a kind of confusing fashion. I'm sure you understand the concept of bounced light and core shadows, so for now I'll just say that the bounced light on the chest and on the left arm looks a bit too strong, possibly darken them up a bit.
I could do a quick paint over if you would wish me to demonstrate.
Thanks for the advice Saurabhinator, I've tried a couple of new leg comps. Human legs are hard enough never mind the bovine variety.

Hopefully this can help illustrate my point about the leg and the shading of the torso. His pose makes him look like he is walking so it feels kind of like he should have a more balanced position.
thanks again Saurabhinator, its really good of you to take the time to help me out. I'm not sure of this is more what you were meaning, I'll probably work more on the light as the colour goes in.
The perspective technique will come in handy.

Yeah knowing about perspective always helps making the object feel more solid.
The way I see it, while the right hand is swinging forward, the left hand is swinging backwards, so if the light is coming from our left side I think that some light is going to hit his torso.
But yeah, i think the form of the torso is easier to read with less of the reflected light on it.
Playing around with zbrush trying to figure out how to texture from a photo. Its harder to follow some tutorials with understanding the basics of a program, i'm too impatient to read over the first pages and I always want to jump into the exciting stuff. Powerful program but easy to make a mess.

Decided to make the frog a bit happier and less psychedelic. I think he look pretty cool so far, good rendering practice to get into.

I've checked out your whole sketchbook and I have to say that it is awesome and I love the variety of things that you draw. But it's a shame that you don't do those character designs for your film, that stylized portraits from imagination were really awesome

Wow ANtY93, that some great feedback. You've given me a real boost. I've been doing a bit of sketching and storyboarding for the film idea so hopefully I'll stick some more stuff up here soon.
I saw some awsome illustrations by a Spanish girl, I found her stuff on flickr through linkedin You can see it at http://www.flickr.com/photos/helena_pallares (she has a pretty hot profile picture). She uses collage in her work and it gave me the idea of using some photos of poppy with some loose rendering. This is Poppy Mock Chop as herself and then as a pirate in a dream.

Got a new moleskin sketchpad for christmas, A4 size. I'd forgoten how great they feel to draw in, it didn't take to well to my dip pen but never mind.
I just finished a book called "The Strain," its co writen by Guillermo Del Toro of Pan Labrinth fame. It a great book but bear in mind its a trilogy, I didn't know and I'm trying to decide if I can be commit to reading 2 more.
Anyway, ink drawing of a scene from the strain, as I said the ink didn't go down to well in the moleskin but I tidied it up a bit in photoshop.
