    LastGen's Path of Improvement

    Hi,
My name is Lukas, I'm 19 years old and I come from Germany.

It's time to get serious about my dream; sacrificing what I am, for what I will become - a concept artist and illustrator. Inspired by all the great artists around here.

Portrait, I´m not sure whether it is quite good or not...

I need some advise about references and topics from you guys, please!

Alright, first attempt on anatomy of a foot. The second drawing looks ugly, so I definately have to work on that...my new challenge

    cool, stuff.
That portrait is really cool. The blacks seem almost too back. There aren't many mid tones. the facial proportions seem a pinch off but I have similar issues there I think it just comes with time and effort.
the water is really cool though.

    I like the foot studies.

Hey JamesMcCauley, thank you very much!

I see what you mean. The problem of the shadows of that portrait is that she has a really bright skin color and the flashes made her skin almost white.
But drawing this portrait helped me a lot, it was hard to manage the proportions and finally...they´re not correct.

    Thanks again

Excellent studies for a beginner, but Ryanoir is right to say what he said. Also, I would like for you to look up a guide on perspective.

ryanoir_Yes, I bought Bridgeman´s Constructive Anatomy and a random anatomy book for art students. Thanks again!
What do you mean when you say I should loose up? I guess you´re talking about specific body parts like hands and feet

FightingSeraph_You´re right, perspective is an important thing I shouldn´t neglect. Are there any books you could recommend, too?

    Thanks!

    Till Thanks a lot!

Back to basics - studies´n´sketches from today and yesterday...I´ll have to do more of them, every day! And I absolutely do not know what I am doing wrong when I scan those sheets, but I hope this is no matter of importance =D

Definitely dig all the studies you did here. Keep doing them, with also, of course, gestural drawings as some people here mentioned, and you'll be great.

Keep it up and see you on your next update!

witcrack Thanks man, I much appreciate that! Loomis is great, I learned a lot about proportions although I still have issues on drawing the chin in those basic shapes. But I hope to fix that as soon as possible

Of course I didn´t do nothing today, next step will be drawing the shapes of the eyes and/or shading the head. I also noticed that I improved in drawing circles This time without references, just what I learned so far from the book... 3/4 perspective is still hard for me.

Zink Thank you, I looked through your sketchbook and your drawings are beautiful! I hope to become at least as good as you are...

Here are some sketches and studies again, no reference used as you can see in the 3/4 perspective - it still looks weird :/
Well, I don´t know what´s wrong with my left hand...it´s too shaky so I stopped drawing for today, don´t know what´s wrong with it.

heads looking good, loosening up meaning like dont be stiff when your drawing, feel free to draw howevers right, you can scribble if you want, fill pages of scribbles, its all good
draw what you want and if you struggle on some anatomy get the books out, but its good to study and doodle around too!
    keep at it

it's really nice to see that you are doing so many studies and anatomy too (those back muscles were really pretty). Anatomy studies bore me to death but everyone here is doing them and doing them well so I guess I need to start on some too hehe

Maybe loosening your grip will help too and your hand will be less shaky/strained?

I think you should look into some full body proportion as well. That latest gunman looks pretty awkward.

Great start mate! The studies are good and that portrait looks great. Was really lucky, worked for many years in the industry but in a completely different capacity. But was in the right place at the right time when they needed some design work. So for the past two years I've been lucky enough to learn as I'm working. Keep up the good work!
