Hey lilnebo, I was wondering why my piece wasn't put in?

ryanoir: I really don't know too much about environments, but to me, there really isn't anything to compelling about the picture. I can see that the sun is the focal part, but again, to me it's not really interesting. There's a good mood set to the picture with the darker colors in the foreground.

Piemonster: Very dramatic piece, this is the picture that I ended up voting for. I think it was a good idea that you kept it in black and white, it adds a nice contrast. His right arm (stage left) looks kind of wonky. It's bending at a weird angle and it just doesn't look very solid. The legs in the foreground look a little off as well.

Nyctalgia: I agree with what you said in an earlier thread about adding more planets. Something that might've made it more interesting is to add more to the planet than just it's regular circle shape. Rings or smaller planets? Just suggestions. I like the use of complementary colors.

Sacari: I think a big problem is the values, even if the theme is light, the piece should have some contrast. All of the values are mid-light tones. Also, the cloth, it's not clear whether that's a gown or just drapery there. If it's the former, make sure it wraps around her and shows her form. Her hands I think, should be in a different position. Hands play a large role in body language, and here it looks like she's twiddling her fingers, like she's nervous. Make sure to always use ref on hands.

0zz0: I think something that's hurting this is the lines, along with there being too much dark values. Not every fold should have a super dark value to it. Something to note is how he's holding the dagger. It's not really an intimidating position, because the dagger is pointed down, like he's making sure he won't accidentally stab somebody. If he were holding it outward or even toward the viewer, the dagger would seem more dangerous.

Piemonster: It's seems that the character that seems to have been impaled by something, is having a really bad day! Since he has no legs! It's obvious where the floor is cause of the "tabard" that flows along the floor between his legs, but there is no space for any lower legs beneath his thighs. This ruined the picture...

Unfortunately theres no way of knowing whether someone cheated or not. So we should leave any accusations alone. Unless you have proof there's no point in accusing anyway. Just be happy you got to participate in the challenge.

That's the case with every one of these polls. The votes are accumulating very quickly. Please, don't be like this. I know that we're all teenagers, but it's stuff like this that gives teenagers a bad name. Please greet your insecurities in this competition with maturity, instead of placing blame on others.

This should not be being discussed. In my opinion, the best pieces won. Just because a fair few votes came in after Jason Manley linked the competition does not imply cheating.
Although I do agree that a judge or two would make it fairer.

I can understand that tensions are high due to the possibility of a scholarship, but please approach things objectively.

That's why I am getting judges. I am sure you'll be happy with the choice of judges, some cool inspirational people, hopefully they all manage to make it.

Relax guys, if you truly deserve a scholarship you'll have more than one shot at getting it. If it's really worth that much to you then work for it and show that you're worthy

ok, ryanoir felt miffed cuz he got bumped at the last second and at least implied about some cheating. id be pissed too, but hey, it happens. and like lilnebo said, youll have other chances to get scholarships. in the meantime, just keep improving and youll have even better chances. im not taking sides (ryanoir got my vote) i just dont like people argueing over crap like this. i know we're all teens, but can we just be mature and drop it?
