    Icon Inzai's sketchbook | semi-daily | sketches and stuff

Hey everyone, I'm an 18 year old from Sweden! I'm currently studying social-science in my second year.
I'm been drawing for 4 or 5 years now, on and off, but i'm now starting to do something about my lazyness.

Hopefully this sketchbook will help me push myself more =) I'm looking for feedback and critique =)

here's three sketches to start things off.

The clarity is too soft dude! But your imagination drawings are great, and great studies- keep it coming!
Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/

    Jovian M thx, i guess

soo.. I really wanna keep this sketchbook daily, but I have already failed with that goal.. although I now have a scanner, which will help me with that. I also had some time to draw during the last couple of days.. as soon as I get home, i will upload the studies I'm been working on at home =) Here are some mixed sketches.. some quickies from school, and some quickies from life in general, and some doodles from my imagination.. hope you like =)

I second "why inzai" and ... that last need needs to go darker, give it some more contrast. Apart from that I'd say it's one of the best faces I've seen you do. (:

I explained to ya on msn Ryanoir, but for PieMonster & Bapsi: it really comes down to me being tired of the old nick =) thank you for your comments.. PieMonster, I don't think its about using 'more contrast', I think its more about how I could better utilize the values I have in there. The easy solution to it would be to throw in darker ones, but I would only cheat the eye, if even that.

here is todays update.. I'm hoping to be able to scan tomorrow.. right now, there's no time haha.

looking great bro! looks like a very very sloppy but nice looking style your getting, but it'd improve from some minor clean ups here and there, iono if you want it to look unfinished and not polished, or if these are all wips or sketches but even with a sketch it pays off to clean up here and tehere.. but its your work, your decisiion brother!

haha yeah man, I really agree with you, they are sketches but would benefit a lot from being cleaned up, although it's mostly about repetition for me right now, not fancy rendering. Rather studying and repeating what I've learnt =) I've spent almost 4 years drawing without ever drawing characters, I 'know' how to render, a lot better compared to what I know about figures or characters in general So the focus atm is not on rendering, or being sloppy, or being fast, or being slow. It is repetition and on learning what is underneath the character, what makes the character etc. Also mixing that with studies from real-life, and remembering how things look and work, and also experimenting with focus, composition and values within that =) Although, these last points I've mentioned could and will improve if I spent more time on the rendering etc..

hopefully that gives you a better insight in what I'm 'currently doing'. I'm not painting and posting tons of environments for a reason I am not interested in staying within any of my comfortzones anymore =)

i don't mean spending time on rendering, the line work and overall brushwork is sloppy and doesn't look thought through, maybe you did think it through but possibly not enough
studying figures isnt about repitition exactly (even though it is good) but you can save a hell of a time if you slow down when studying figures, you pick up a lot more things you didn't ever know about them, dave pulumbo had an article in imaginfx about that too, saying not to rush figures and such. which is all too right
i totally respect what you said but i wasn't meaning rendering. rendering somethings not totally important, making readable shapes and such is more important than really rendered stuff.
    so yeurp

    thanx guys,

just two speedpaints before sleep.. one is a study, there was this brief moment of great light that hit the trees and bushes outside my window.. very brief moment which I tried to at least steal the colors from..

and one.. of those.. err soldiers that you do when you can't come up with something better...
