Now i looked through all the pages of your sketchbook and i must say the woman are cool but it's get's really boring after a while
you always draw the same thing i don't see any variation in you sketchbook if you would put al your sketches next to each other
it would like you've been drawing one woman and one male with everytime a tiny bit of variation i really noticed you love comics and especially topcow
I to think that these are Great Comics but witchblade would be a lott cooler if there would be some variation in the characters
Look At blacksad for Example every character is unique you can tell a lott of by just looking at them Those characters have a story to Tell
You put above every picture this is this person an he's that and she's that just like drawing an apple and writing underneath it this is an apple
We allready know that it's an apple unless the apple is really drawn bad and can't recognize it
So what i'm saying is the drawing needs to speak on it's own the character should be defined by the drawing not by the Text that comes along
And one last thing (Sorry if i sound bit harsh)
But i got the feeling you use Comics as Reference Wich is a really bad idea try to define your own style and draw from life and use human anatomy as reference
I'll hope this will help you improve
But please stop drawing the same thing over and over again
Every critique helps me to get on step closer towards my dream so feel free to
Sketchbook
@grey rift thanks for the comments...good food for thought here. yeah and i agree there is a large degree of similarity and familiarity...with one caveat, i think if you place the figures say from page 1 with page 11 i think there is difference. so perhaps not a depth of difference but a width of difference. that may or may not make sense.
onward...yeah i'll definitely try for more variety-at present im hammering away at familiar problem areas-hands/feet/legs/arms(essentially the whole body). as to influences i have to say that comics definitely are a huge influence but anime/manga is at least as big-probably contributing to some of the sameness i suppose. very constructive crits here and things i will try to improve upon-will i never leave the practice table ^^;...

Faces.I like them.
Especially the orc face from yesterday, post 304.
Big changes since the first pages of your sketchbook, but all your figures have such a sweet swung to them. Mmh. How do you say that? They're fluent and full of restrained energy ready to be unleashed.![]()
@hiderahiberna thanks for the kind words my friend ...and i was definitely pleased with that orc face :w00t:-i always struggle with that face angle-turned out pretty well. and to the lines...yeah im working like a lunatic trying to keep them smooth and fluid.

Great SB here Selkirk! Though it's also some of the most bizarro-hyper-sexualised-muscularity I've seen in a long while, lol. (That's not a criticism) I think you've got a real hold on anatomy and some very efficient and expressive linework. Some of the lines over-emphasise particular features which adds to lumpiness... it's not wrong really, but the issue is with how you're choosing to express some of these forms. At the moment, almost every detail gets a line. While I think this works most of the time in this instance, perhaps introducing another level or two of subtler expressions will give you the extra scope, more control; hard when it needs to be hard and soft where softness is needed. Overall though, very good lines indeed, and very confident! Rocking that Euro comic look a bit too, which is great.
Please give erudite, constructive critiques or give none at all.

@phiq thanks so much for the kind words and crits ...yeah i always wonder what people think when they see these busty muscular babes-and excellent eye in regards to lumpiness. this really comes from not knowing/being unsure(im at the practice board now
)...when i feel uncertain the figures definitely get lumpy in areas-hopefully as noted as i go forward i can sort of smooth these areas. im definitely going for a smooth line overall. and to line quality and variaton...again spot one-i almost feel like im just learning any sort of shading...i pretty much shade wherever i think it might look good, without much rhyme or reason...but at least it's in the toolkit-this should improve as well. really excellent thoughts overall.
