    Red face SketchA, Sketchbook.

Hey everyone this is my sketchbook. Working intensely on my anatomy... i hope. Well that's all I've been drawing. The only piece of ref. I have been using is from Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist, by Stephen Rogers Peck. My short term goal is to learn to draw the anatomy from all basic angles, be able to exaggerate the muscles at my own will.

When i do start to exaggerate the muscles I don't know if I'm doing it correctly. This is fun as hell though lol. (messing around with human anatomy) All i have to A4 paper and pencils so... yea. I draw everyday so your advice will not go to waste. I want to be able to do more!

Please critic me if you can I seem to learn more when I've been told what I need to work on. Torso, all from memory sketches:

Tomorrow I'm working on my Line. Once I can draw all basic angles of the anatomy from memory, I'm going to move onto the drawing from different angles. I tried some here though.

I'm planning to do some studies from Burne Hogarth books. I will post those soon too.

    Here's some of today:

    Hey there!
Really dig your anatomy studies, you do a lot of them and that's a good way to go!
Hogarth's work is great,so do a lot of studies from his book!(altho I like Bridgman's constructional method better, but that's just personal taste)

    Keep it up!

    I'm here to stay

I don't have a great excuse for the quick sign up and become inactive thing. Though I did take a Animation course that took up time. I dropped out because it didn't involve as much drawing as I thought it would. Now I'm kinda scared to try to go on an art course because they may not teach me what I want to know, even though I feel if I work hard enough I'll pass.

But for me its not about the degree, I just want it so bad.

Anyway I'm here to stay and right now all I really have are some portraits to post done in photoshop. I have so much I want to learn.

My ultimate goal is to study at TAD somehow. I bought some of the online lessons and I've never learnt so much. So I'm going to make the most of this I'm already 21! O.O

But in all seriousness I'm here to learn and I'm not so deluded as I was before I really don't know much about art and still many things fly over my head.

Anyway I'm going to post what I've been up too please let me know what you think and what I should do to improve.

Thanks Hyenathatdraws, I will keep it up. Today I'm busy but as soon as I get home, I going to try and learn the skull some more I was doing more sketches last night but I passed out. It was about 4am and I woke today at 10am. >.<

I could only spend about 30min-1hr on this because I have to be somewhere but when I get home I'm going to study them again. With the whole subject in the damn canvas this time lol, that was an accident.

! Oh and I just bought vol.2 of ZhangLu's Portraits vid. I got vol.1 some time ago and now hes like my Idol. I wish I knew how old he is though.

I think I'm catching onto something but still very hazy. Some of this i used ref to remind me what it really looks like but I tried to draw from memory.

Next i'm going to do the life drawing and female head studies/sketches from ref only.

Draw From Life. DRAW FROM LIFE! I kept hearing that I started 2 weeks ago and man It helped. I haven't even started to draw from life heavily but i cant wait for weekend so I can go up central london to draw people.

Anyway a lot of my drawing form obs was done in my A3 sketchbook and i really can't scan that but I will try. Here is some stuff from an few days ago and today.

Oh and I have been using a H2 pencil mostly so I have to tweak scanner to make it show.

The annoying thing about gestures for me is, I don't know if I'm doing it right. Some turn out "ok" which feels like luck when the rest just looks bad or doesn't feel right.

I'm about to do 30min of 1min gestures then move onto something else.

Not sure if you still do this because it's been a while since you posted portraits, but it looks like you have a habit of elongating the head, especially in the chin area. Check out this and this (both Ron Lemen tutorials) for another way to think about head construction. (The important thing being the 'three equal parts' thing.)

Another way to think of it is that the eyes usually go in the middle of the head (from the top to the bottom of the chin). Example.
