I agree with kiwigarbage. You have feeling of line and spot! you can try to draw or paint value study with very neat and accurate manner and do not stop your construction studies. Look at what TAD students do.
Good luck! ^_^
Kiwigarbage : Thank you! They're not as awesome as your gesture drawings though
Awesome sketches you've got!
Eclair : Thank you for thatAnd yep, I'll keep at those studies.. Will post everyday, that's my newest resolution (never too late to make those
)

Back with more gesture drawings! Hectic week this was.. They're all hectic <__< So anyways, a few days of no drawing and whatever line quality I'd built up flew outta the window..
Started off with sketching the female form from the Gesture Drawing Tool yesterday and found that I'm bad at it.. They seem to look better today thoughGotta try and get that volume in with a few lines..

Hey Sharon!
Man you've improved! Great to see more of your work up here.
I'm really liking the figure drawings Sharon, makes me think I need to stop avoiding them and do them myself!
Keep it up!!
-don
yes, great figure drawing, your proportions are really good and the actual drawings have really nice volume
hey nice sketches there sharon, you're getting more fluidity in your works
that's a good thing, got to get bolder with your lines though, I'm sure you will get that too.
your hand studies still needs work, why dont you break down the hand to simple structures. like a box, circle n cylinders, trust me they work
but yea, so far you're sketches are coming out pretty well
keep updating bud ^____^
Ooo some lovely U-bends in those figures. You have a very sexy style of drawing the spine. I'm usually not a fan of such thin lines in gesture, but you make it work quite beautifully!

Got an unfinished photo study,
some more gesture drawings, that I didn't quite like as much as yesterdays..
And some still life! This was fun to paintDidn't use opacity jitter like earlier, plus I painted most of it on a single layer.. Learned some new stuff
Photoshop and around 1 hour..
More tomorrow!
you comic strip is epoch!been there felt that, FTW
for a crit though. i would make the opacity on your brush 100% but knock the flow down to 60%. i would turn off the opacity via pen presser and turn on flow via pen presser. you can get a really nice thick paint stroke and it still gives you a good amount of opacity to blend. jason chan rocks something close to that and he gets really nice results.
love the work. keep it up
:::edit::: like the painting up top, no opacity. it looks baller![]()

Your post #44 made me go insane! Those lines are brilliant, sexy tonals and AWESOME texture; brings about a real feeling of volume- I got a feeling I was looking at a Bridgeman bookI really regret not taking my sketchbook with me, that single piece has motivated me so much! Thank you Sharon
I'd like to see more of those.
Keep it coming mate! Great work so far. I should be doing some environment studies tooI'm an architect for heaven's sake xD
Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/
I love to comic strip! xD It's awesome! And good still life!) I think you'll be great soon!)))
Ellow CA! I've been inactive for quite a few months now.. Had some freelance project to finish, which shouldn't have taken that much time, but now I know better :/
CrookedHorn : Thank ye! I'll definitely try that out the next time
Milad : Oi long timeThanks man.. I've totally lost touch with sketching again.. :/ Gotta get back to it..
Kristoff : Love that cute lil knight in your icon! And thank you so much!

The (very messy) workflow of a character sketch I finished yesterday. All PS again..
And the final image
That's all for now!![]()
Nice nurse! I like the gesture drawings as well.
keep going!
Ah, the sexy and deadly nurse; reminds me of some movie I saw recently. Kill Bill, yeah that's the one.
What's with the guy-nomming thing eh?
So that's your published work eh- did you get a hard copy of it?
Man, I haven't done any damn drawings for a laaawng time.Months, I think.
Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/

Getting back to rusty gesture drawings.. :/ Never tried drawing guys all this while, so thats what I'm focusing on now.. Really want to try my hand at making some Prince of Persia fan artBeen playing warrior within, two thrones and POP2008 this last week! Back to the art stuff,
Aand an over ambitious attempt at painting -a classic case of trying to run before I can walk

really nice updates,
about the still life, i think itl be better if you do a black and white study to understand forms first
![]()
There's an evident lack-of-touch-for-a-long-time syndrome here. Some of those proportions are weird, but nice effort.
Lol, I wonder what it would be if I started drawing now. D:
Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/
Back again!
Milad : Yeap :/ gotta get back to daily sketching again..
Solly : yep yep.. and better choose something simpler too for starters
---
After seeing the awesomeness in Austen's Sketchpad, I thought I'd try out a random shapes challenge myselfso i drew these random scribbles first
and uncovered these! Rough outlines in pencil and drew over that with a pen and chisel tip marker..
A page of 30sec gesture drawings too.. Ink on newsprint
![]()
me like the shape/face designs![]()
Solly : yaaye!moar to come!
----
Took one of the faces and built a body for it on tracing paper,
scanned it and messed around in photoshop for a bit.. Got a class trip 2moro, so not stayin up late for this! Moar once I'm back.. Gotta redraw it n fix the anatomy errors too :/
![]()
Lovely idea and even lovelier drawings! I do stuff like this in Alchemy, but this is too cool to be ignored! - paper, here I comez!
I'm in love with the way you handle the pencils- the texture and feel is tasty, and the pressure oh so juicy xD Lovin' it so far!
Don't bother looking at my sketchbook. I haven't updated that thing in years. :/
Hey!
Wow, you've really come along since I last visited your SB. Well done on all of your efforts and also getting some of your work published!
Keep up the great work!!

Milad : Aww thank yous :> Moar posts you say? Lets see em comin! Really? The ones in my last post? :/ I still don't see that in my pencils..
Donthedragon : Thank you Don!good to hear from you after ages! Hope you're back sketching too

This was a random quickie post, a tribute to the artistic hell that is my fine arts college :| Inks, markers, paintbrush and water..

Pretty cool idea- Seriously reminds me of songs like 'Another Brick in the Wall', 'Hate Song' and 'The Sound of Muzak'. It feels a bit multi-dimensioned too, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Some elements 3D, some 2D, and the 2D objects don't seem to respect the laws of the 3D world. Like the character for instance. Its like working in After Effects. A 2.5D kinda thing.
Gotta say its rather mushy though xD

Milad : yeaha.. gotta love college :/
Here's one of the assignments we're doing now.. I still have no idea why we're sticking with good ol poster paint for 80% of the assignments :/ The topic was Say no to alcohol (30 x 20 inches). It gets kinda obvious that I lost interest in it as the days progressed.. Really wish we had more life study and useful stuff

Forget posters, think of it as a social cause xP and finish it! Don't you feel the front bottle (with the man in it) looks kinda cut-out like?

Your linework sketches are looking good. Keep doing those, and lot's of 'em. Keep it loose and varied, that's where we learn the most. Also try doing some environments, look at lighting and whatnot.
Keep it up!
Hey Sharon J! I figured I would drop by after your kind words. You've got a nice body of work in here so far. Your figure drawing has really shaped up since you started drawing from sources other than posemaniacs, in the most recent batches of drawings i see a lot of great underlying gestures and a lot of good line flow. I also really like what you did with the random shape exercise! Im even more excited to see you took one of the faces and made a full character~ I dont do that often enough myself. Also, on the past page i saw some fun water color random drawings that i'm going to try myself, so thank you for the idea!
Keep up the good work, i hope to see more of your little caricatures self portraits in the future as well![]()
I really see some improvements in here, your lines feel more natural now and you have that proper style where everything is simply cute and beautiful.
I'm really jealous at your amount of work and how you push yourself every day to draw and draw more!
Looking forward for even more from you![]()
