I agree with kiwigarbage. You have feeling of line and spot! you can try to draw or paint value study with very neat and accurate manner and do not stop your construction studies. Look at what TAD students do.

    Good luck! ^_^

Kiwigarbage : Thank you! They're not as awesome as your gesture drawings though Awesome sketches you've got!

Eclair : Thank you for that And yep, I'll keep at those studies.. Will post everyday, that's my newest resolution (never too late to make those )

    __

Back with more gesture drawings! Hectic week this was.. They're all hectic <__< So anyways, a few days of no drawing and whatever line quality I'd built up flew outta the window..

Started off with sketching the female form from the Gesture Drawing Tool yesterday and found that I'm bad at it.. They seem to look better today though Gotta try and get that volume in with a few lines..

I'm really liking the figure drawings Sharon, makes me think I need to stop avoiding them and do them myself!

hey nice sketches there sharon, you're getting more fluidity in your works
that's a good thing, got to get bolder with your lines though, I'm sure you will get that too.
your hand studies still needs work, why dont you break down the hand to simple structures. like a box, circle n cylinders, trust me they work
but yea, so far you're sketches are coming out pretty well
    keep updating bud ^____^

Ooo some lovely U-bends in those figures. You have a very sexy style of drawing the spine. I'm usually not a fan of such thin lines in gesture, but you make it work quite beautifully!

you comic strip is epoch! been there felt that, FTW

for a crit though. i would make the opacity on your brush 100% but knock the flow down to 60%. i would turn off the opacity via pen presser and turn on flow via pen presser. you can get a really nice thick paint stroke and it still gives you a good amount of opacity to blend. jason chan rocks something close to that and he gets really nice results.

love the work. keep it up

:::edit::: like the painting up top, no opacity. it looks baller

Your post #44 made me go insane! Those lines are brilliant, sexy tonals and AWESOME texture; brings about a real feeling of volume- I got a feeling I was looking at a Bridgeman book I really regret not taking my sketchbook with me, that single piece has motivated me so much! Thank you Sharon I'd like to see more of those.

Keep it coming mate! Great work so far. I should be doing some environment studies too I'm an architect for heaven's sake xD

There's an evident lack-of-touch-for-a-long-time syndrome here. Some of those proportions are weird, but nice effort.

Lol, I wonder what it would be if I started drawing now. D:

Pretty cool idea- Seriously reminds me of songs like 'Another Brick in the Wall', 'Hate Song' and 'The Sound of Muzak'. It feels a bit multi-dimensioned too, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Some elements 3D, some 2D, and the 2D objects don't seem to respect the laws of the 3D world. Like the character for instance. Its like working in After Effects. A 2.5D kinda thing.

Gotta say its rather mushy though xD

Milad : yeaha.. gotta love college :/

Here's one of the assignments we're doing now.. I still have no idea why we're sticking with good ol poster paint for 80% of the assignments :/ The topic was Say no to alcohol (30 x 20 inches). It gets kinda obvious that I lost interest in it as the days progressed.. Really wish we had more life study and useful stuff

Your linework sketches are looking good. Keep doing those, and lot's of 'em. Keep it loose and varied, that's where we learn the most. Also try doing some environments, look at lighting and whatnot.

    Keep it up!

Hey Sharon J! I figured I would drop by after your kind words. You've got a nice body of work in here so far. Your figure drawing has really shaped up since you started drawing from sources other than posemaniacs, in the most recent batches of drawings i see a lot of great underlying gestures and a lot of good line flow. I also really like what you did with the random shape exercise! Im even more excited to see you took one of the faces and made a full character~ I dont do that often enough myself. Also, on the past page i saw some fun water color random drawings that i'm going to try myself, so thank you for the idea!

Keep up the good work, i hope to see more of your little caricatures self portraits in the future as well

I really see some improvements in here, your lines feel more natural now and you have that proper style where everything is simply cute and beautiful.
I'm really jealous at your amount of work and how you push yourself every day to draw and draw more!

Looking forward for even more from you
