problem uploading images

when i try too upload my images using the attachments manager, it doesnt work because i think the files are too big! i might sound stupid but how do i make them smaller, also with the size wen i get images too work they are huge! too big to fit on the screen, if any one could help me that would be great! its probably something easy, but i dont have a clue

Get orfanview - it's free and resize them. Don't make them any bigger than 1000 pixels and use 42dpi. Save as another name if you don't want to lose the original and then upload here. The maximum file sizes are shown in the attachment manager.
