Love those studies and these environments are rad! The castle 3rd from bottom is really cool, reminds me of a William Wendt painting. I love how you get the rocks to feel grounded like they're intersecting with the hillside.
those are some sexy ass environments. i'm jealous!![]()

Beautiful man, your values seem really good, like your designs and compositions. your style of flat rocks is really nice too. Like the colours of your more foresty envs, good mood setting in general. Not sure for crit youre doing a lot right. Your stalagmite type rocks seem a little vague, maybe study that kind of rock some more if you like using them in your comps![]()
very solid work, you brushwork is very nice, good economy and you handle your values very nicely. I'll be following your progress for sure!

Kielbasa - Thanks, William Wendt is awesome, makes me want to do some landscapes paintings from life.
sourgasm - Thanks, I can say the same about your environments
TFsean - Thanks, yeah I agree, I always throw in stalagmites because its just an easy solution. Easy to overlap and create depth with. I'll have some studies next post, thanks again.
-D_art- Thanks dude
Trying to focus on my weaknesses. Characters, line, and just general drawing. I have horrible fundamentals. Pouring over loomis at the moment, need start really start constructing instead of nearly copying.

Awesome studies and environments! I also really like those creatures in the last post. For characters, it always helps me to draw the figure first without any clothing just so when you actually do clothe them, you know how the fabric falls on the figure. This also forces you to understand the anatomy instead of hiding it underneath giant clothes haha![]()
Great environments and studies, great brushwork. I wish I could crit something, but I think you've got this all in hand.
Going back to fundamentals is always a smart move, no matter how good you are. You are on the path of wisdom, mang.

jcpahl: Thanks I hope so!
tempest-haze: Thanks yeah I got lots to work on in the anatomy department. Always hiding it.

Good, solid work all around. Nice studies, I think you have a good understanding of light and form.
One of the first things I noticed when I looked at your images (not your studies but your own work) is that they all felt like good beginnings, even your environment work. Your environments lack ideas. I think they could use more ideas, and what I mean by ideas is having more "going on" in them. There doesn't need to be figures or any kind of action going on in them but more "stuff" if you will. Another thing that will also help is spending more time designing, detailing and texturing all the elements in your enviro (maybe not every part exactly the same but areas of focus). I could go on with suggestions. If you want, you can PM and we can have a more in depth discussion since I know that some of what I'm saying may be interpreted as a bit vague.
Your figures from imagination, they also feel unfinished (most of them at least). They're decent to good starts. SPend more time on these and really think about what they're all about, who are they? what is their purpose? if you just want them to look cool, why do you want them to look cool? give you characters a purpose, spend some time having a solid idea what he or she is all about. You've got a solid grip on the technical side of drawing and painting, you can crank out something amazing with more time spent concepting. That mech you did looks awesome and I think is probably your most finished piece on this page. The background, however, could use a bit more lovin. Look at some of your favourite artist who make similar images and see what they're doing, and really analyze what they're doing.
Anyways man, I like what you have here. Keep pushing yourself. Rock on!
