Hey man! Joining your artistic journey! making great distance so far!

Try painting with the form helps stuff look even more 3d! its also easier to show the form, if you're not after using shadow and light to do so!

So alot of things have been on my mind lately... For instance, I realized... why try to be like Dave Rapoza.. there can only be one Dave.. But there can be only one Ven. Also with my studies I've realized that I've been jumping around alot( Thanks Vertical & Fudgeloaf), EX: 1 day -Arms next day- legs day after- heads. Gotta stop doing that, as I forget everything from that day and I won't progress. This august I really haven't progressed much because I did exactly what I just said and it didn't help me. So starting right now! Things are going to change
@ Hem Thanks man Yeah dude keep working hard and you will improve real fast. Can't wait to see where you land have you accomplish your 30 hours challenge
    @Marlo Of course brah!
@ Psychobuddy Thanks man I took your tip and actually think about the color
@ Fudge Cheers man Can't wait to see more from you to
@ Meon Yay! Thanks for joining and for the critique !

    Hi Vens

So, based on your still lifes and your movie stills, I have a suggestion. I think you need to slow down, and observe a lot closer. You're making lots of little mistakes which all stem from drawing what you think is there and not what you're seeing. The pupil in Anime Bro's eye takes up too much of the iris in your drawing, the folds in the cloak aren't really very precise, the hilights and the shadows on your apple and tomato are way off...little things like that, which wind up going a long way and throwing everything else off.

So start double checking more often, observing harder, do blind contours, measure more, things like that.

You've improved a lot since my last visit Keep it up! I agree with what Strato said, I know the last screencap study wasn't finished but it saves much grief later if you spend some time getting the base sketch accurate before going in to render. (I learned this the hard way :c ) Also, maybe try working short, long, etc dunno if you already do this, I find that a bunch of shorts with occasional longer projects mixed in improve more than either by itself.
    Good luck!

Hey Ven, no real crits per se...just gotaa say though that you should watch your line quality. I noticed in the last batch you uhhh...tend to take two or three strokes to imply one line, if that makes sense. Errr who would be a good example of having good line quality...Hannes! errr Algenpfleger...check his pencils, well after he started to improve of course. Notice that he does it in one stroke most of the time, or at least that's the way it comes across. Anyway man keep it up, you've improved for sure since I last checked, you're doing great! Oh and I 'm glad I was helpful last time!

Edit: Don't stress too much about lines though, it really is something that just comes naturally through practice...

Keep going with your studies. They're looking good. Careful with your colour studies though, that apple has highlights in areas that aren't even on the reference, sounds like you're letting the left side of your brain chatter to your drawing hand, so you start trying to "fill in the blanks" with memory imprints of an apple, rather than observing the apple and using that to inform all of your strokes. Keep looking back at your reference more often possibly.

^ If that made no sense, consider reading Betty Edwards "Drawing on the right side of the brain", though it's apparently a pretty controversial book, so form your own opinion on it too.

Drawing on the right side of the brain is a shunned book yes. and for good reason. But you can still benefit from it. Just while reading it, keep in mind that what you read can be ... well.. shunned

Hey, congratulations on the job! I remember the first time I got my job, it's a liberating and intimidating feeling at the same time. As long as you enjoy it, you'll do a great job.

As for your sketchbook, the latest updates are looking tight. Although, as far as the pencils are concerned, I guess you could try cleaner, more distinct lines. Right now there are far too many small strokes I think.

That's a pretty good study to end Summer on. Good luck with school, and congrats on the job! Did you mean for that one dark value to be in the lips and nowhere else? seems like it belongs in the eyes too.

Still ramping up anatomy, great man. As for line quality which is nice at your last Bridgman, except the knowledge of lines good portion is hand dexterity and stroke confidence, like everything else in this world it comes with time.
Anyways, sorry for your summer is ended I kinda know the feeling, just find strength to draw every second of your spare time you get, ofc if you enjoy it, but if you didnt you wouldnt be here So gl take care and draw like спартан, till you bleed to death.

Latest studies are looking very nice. You've very clean line quality there.

Edit: And the only thing that was good about math class was it's easier to sketch on gridded paper.
