My name is Ksya, I'm a girl from Russia.
At the moment I'm working in Russian small game development company as a 2D artist but I'm going to change my place of work by April 2012.
I've used to be completely self taught artist but now I'm visiting an art class.

Please give me some crits and advices and help me to become a better artist! ^__^

Great start! I loved the first batch of random faces, you seem to have a fondness for big chins and lips but you can also see you're varied enough to include other types.
(Nice pencil work too, very proffecional looking)

Hope to see more soon because I can tell this is going to be a good sketchbook.

I really suck at drawing landscapes so I decided to try some speedpaints of those. Here're my works.
I spent 1-1,5 hours on them, Photoshop.

Thanks a lot for your comment! I'm not pretty much varied in face sketches but I'm trying to... I have quite a big chin myself and my lips are not very small... so I bring these features to my drawings. Unfortunately I can't get rid of this stuff yet but I'm working on it.

Thanks a lot! The faces are drawn traditionally, I use mechanical pencil 0,5 2B, firstly I draw a light sketch and then use more hard strokes to make more defined contour.

    --

    here are some faces more.

Marilyn Manson portrait was done at 30 minutes from photo, I tried to make a "finished" pic in very small time... and to work on whole canvas, not only fix at 1-2 details.

The brown\violet guy was done at 50 minutes, it's a very simple pic but I like it.

and the girl was done as a commissioned work as a birthday present for that girl from the pic. I was limited by time and money so I didn't try to do my best, I'm not pretty much satisfied with my work but whatever...

    Hello there,

Love the faces - would be nice to see some geometry coming through in the practices, however, as some respective positions do not seem completely believable. Keep practicing, you are doing great and creating some good looking stuff already!

thanks a lot! yes I try to work on geometry, unfortunately I have lack of practice and didn't post because of my sickness, then Mom was sick... anyway I'm back!

here's some stuff I've drawn recently:

    I'll submit more sketches later.

I think something may have been lost in translation. I think what you were trying to say was "i'm really good at drawing landscapes" But your modesty stopped you . Luckily i'm here, and I don't need to be modest for you.

    Ps. Come on msn, damnit.

Hey CJ I'm not so stupid at English I didn't lose anything in translation while writing "I suck at drawing landscapes". I didn't practise landscapes for some time but I still think that I suck at them... need more practice, as usual!

...and I'm not on MSN because of that damn calender. I'm trying to work but I think I'll give up in a couple of days. So see ya!

    ---

some more stuff from summer, lots of it unfinished. i think i'll finish some of them.

as you see I really suck at coloring, especially painting night scenes. the guy with light hair and the moon should be Lestat the Vampire, I like the face but I started painting him in black and white and I can't color with overlay and color mode. I think I'll repaint him again in color. anyway, it was experience...

It's funny how much contrast there is between the last and second-last pictures. It makes them stand out the most.

here's the color study I drew from United Colors of Benetton catalogue. I used 7 years old computer at my Mom's house, 5 year old pen tablet and Paint Tool SAI. that was an Experience, I must say...

    new stuff

    hello guys!!!

First of all, thanks a lot for your positive feedback and comments, I'm very pleased to receive it secondly, I'd like to wish you late Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! yes, I'm a slowpoke... but whatever. I wish you more art, more practice and more inspiration in this year 2011! KEEP SOULS ON FIRE!

    and here's my recent stuff.

here are two color studies I did last year when I had a very old computer and a very old pen tablet... drawn in Paint Tool SAI from observation.

this is how my "albino circus" piece looks like now. I'm not sure that it's finished but I don't know what to do... maybe anyone of you does? critique is very appreciated! and I think I have to do something with ram's body but I dunno what. I'll just wait.

and here's the part of the painting I've started yesterday. There's a huge amount of work because it's going to be a full body piece with lots of details. Hope I'll finish it.

This sketchbook clearly fell for heaven. Love the clean rendering and how you try different things all the time, within the context of painting. Would be great to see some more environment design, as the paintings you have produced of just the surroundings look stunning.

    Best wishes,

i like that you painted random those random still lives with the tape and plastic surfaces playing with reflection, you should do more of those painting from life helps bundles and then you can apply what you learn later to your stuff from imagination ! If I could crit I think your solid with people, it would be nice to see you paint more men and different ages like older people! also try painting images with dramatic lighting or a strong lightsource!

thanks a lot! your words are very pleasant to me even because I feel very stiff with colors. Hope one day it'll change. of course you should start using colors again

    viki oh

i like that you painted random those random still lives with the tape and plastic surfaces playing with reflection, you should do more of those painting from life helps bundles and then you can apply what you learn later to your stuff from imagination ! If I could crit I think your solid with people, it would be nice to see you paint more men and different ages like older people! also try painting images with dramatic lighting or a strong lightsource!
yeah I know about those still life studies they help a lot but the only problem is that they don't seem very interesting for me. that's why I'm often too lazy to paint them but I definitely will continue.

and men... yeah men -____- one of my problems but i'm working on them
thanks a lot for the idea with dramatic lightning and a strong lightsource! I'll try that.

    here're some new works.

this is that asian girl from older post... at least I've finished that. I think I'll never paint flowers again after that...

I did that in November 2010 just for fun and I've completely forgotten about it. Maybe I'll finish this sketch... one day. When I find appropriate color scheme.
