i love the twisted imagination going on in here! the style is fascinating, and it continues to improve..

i think watercolor washes might improve your work, if you're looking into color, doesn't have to be anything complex, just some basic colors, the green really adds some depth to the last one.

only critique might be work on basics, and just strengthen your fundamentals, and explore everything to further the imagination in your work

    please keep posting - subbed

    cheers
    ...the imperfections make it interesting...

Thanks for the feedback Dope Fiend I appreciate the critique!

New work: First one is a rushed Kali
Second is just thoughts, ideas, no context.

This is very impressive... how long does it take you to finish a drawing? Do you work all traditionally or clean stuff up digitally? Also is everything imagination work or do you use some reference?

Sorry for asking a ton of questions, but this is awesome work.

Thanks for taking an interest in my work Dracken, I'd say it takes an avg. of 5 hours per drawing, depending on t's complexity, it starts out as a pencil sketch and then I ink over it and erase the pencil leftovers, no digital media is involved (beyond resizing it after scanning). As for reference, it depends on the drawing, for instance, regarding the latest two, I had to look up Hindu themes and various Kali imagery because I'm only vaguely familiar with the subject, whereas the last one is just imagination.

Cool stuff, man. Part Crumb, part Moebius. I'd like to see some loose work though, that's where the real growth lies, messy sketches!

    Keep posting.

Thank you Dimi and Dutchman; I'm thrilled that you find similarities between my work and Jean Giraud's he's one of the best contemporary artists, as for sketches, whatever free time I have I devote to drawing actual pieces, which start out as rough sketches anyway. Most of my 'messy' work is intertwined with lectures or homework, I'm sure none of you are interested in my heat transfer course

    Anyway, here's some desert scenes.

quick sketches from my notebook for a change. All are ballpoints done in 10-20 minutes on the bus/train/park. Some from life, other just ideas. I've (agonizingly) compiled them together in paint.

    thanks Daryl!

Three WIP I'd like some help with. Specifically the first since I spent agonising hours on her hair and I wouldn't want to screw it up now.

That cross hatching is looking bloody good, mate. I think you're doing a good job so far, what I'd like to see though, is you pushing your shading even more.
I see you do a great job on clothes, torsos and usually faces, but areas like Hands, for instance, look a little lacking in detail. With your type of shading, they could really pop, but it looks like you're too scared to do much shading on these sorts of areas.

Whilst the style on this picture's a bit different to yours, when you look at the hands I'm sure you can get what I mean.

Just keep pushing, mate. Other than that, I love what I'm seeing here so keep up the good work.

Also, why not check these guys too?

    So it's been a while.

Naidy I thank you for your advice. I have actually decided to stop crosshatching as I seem to have reached a plateau. I've decided upon moving to pointillism and I've never been happier!

So here are my first attempts at pointillism.

The second turned into a huge tattoo on my back . It's far from finished and you can't see the details because I have an old camera phone but it's also in pointillism.

A bit more pointillism. I feel that the balance is a little off, and I don't fancy the hair too much. What do you think?

I love your rock studies! I know that's a boring thing to say, lol. Your hatching has really gotten better. I need to follow your example Don't be afraid to try different techniques
