It's been a rough week, but here's the work I did.

I have decided to call it done with this knight.
I'm happy I was able to improve over the last one and will aim to improve with the next.

lol I can tell you from studies I've been doing recently, it's very hard, but very rewarding to study armor not just how it's designed but how the light hits it. Especially the reflective types. Armor is difficult to do because there actually is a bit of color in it based a lot on the environment, it will pick up little shades of color here and there from everything. I find it's very rarely gray. Though one thing with armor when it's a shiny metal is it's high contrast, goes from deep values to light almost pure white at times through a very short distance. Unless it's rusty and losing it's shine.



Though all these studies are nice, a lot of progress since page 1.

Very cool seeing so many little pencil sketches! Maybe look at your tonal range when doing digital colouring, in the Metal Gear Solid image I think you can go quite a bit darker in places(without getting to absolute black). Even if only in key places, used correctly, dark tones can give a great sense of weight to a piece, so give it a shot.

was all over the place this week, trying to figure out how to work and learn better.

feels like i've spent most of the week pondering and musing.

But apart from that I slept in a lot, made a birthday card, read about the formation of the Eurasian continent, put some work into this ninja painting, watched some good anime and made some plans for the future.

I've called it quits on these two paintings.


my search for a path forward has led me to try determine what it is that I do know about painting.
both these painting suffered from not applying the basics rigorously at the start, which can be fun but makes finishing arduous.
I'm hoping that over the next couple of weeks being more disciplined at the start will expand how much and how well I can communicate.
