The seaport buildings are great. Nice variety. That's what amazes me about concept artists: the ability to generate loads of variations on a very specific theme, and have them all look really good. I wonder if I could do that.

Thanks for stopping by my page man, i really appreciate it. Your seaport composition is awesome.
Thank you both!!!
Remember this flaming turd?
Well, I went back and redid it. After reading some of y'alls feedback, I knew that he needed to be reworked.
Here's what I came up with instead. While it creates a whole new set of problems, it's a vast improvement on the former illustration...and I had deadlines to meet.

The design, rendering, and values were better in the second black and white WIP, to be perfectly honest. Aside from the flame shapes looking a little odd, that one actually looks quite pro. I'd highly recommend going back to that stage and working from there, keeping the design intact this time. Not too crazy about the bright blue background, either. I'd keep it darker and moodier, and again, more in line with what you had in the black and white phase.
I would really have to agree with Cory, the design was much much stronger in the BW as well as the mood established with your value heirarchies.
Thanks guys! I appreciate the input.
lovely mate you are doing great!!! Just as the other mates said, you had a great greyscale and probably by working directly with color on top of it you navigated away from your initial planning. When you put down decisions with values and things look lovely, stay as true as possible to it. Its a great and interesting work!!!

kingkostas - Wow, a what a difference between the two. Thank you for pointing that out, I really appreciate the effort!
Here's is another illustration I worked on last semester and I think I did a better job with the values this time around. Let me know what you all think.

Thumbnails - Round 1
Thumbnails - Round 2
I didn't like the first round so I went back and reworked it. I reworked this design a few times but I was still unsatisfied with it.
Thumbnails - Round 3
Went back 1 more time and I liked what I did this time around much more (with the time remaining). This composition made the battle feel more intimate.
Almost there...
Just a few more touches needed...

The last few thumbnails are cools, nice compositions. The final piece is also good. I think some focus on the fists and on the face wold be nice, I think they are a bit soft and bury now.
Hello mate, interesting work and good exploration.
Here my ideas
also
try to have something to dominate, and sobdominants. An element to dominate, a color to dominate. All the pure colors somehow equally distributed, will fight to be seen and the viewer will be frustrated.

kingkostas: Wow! Dude, you really took my piece to the next level! Thank you very much for the feedback! This truly helps me to improve as an artist. Isn't it funny how obvious our mistakes become once a fresh set of eyes takes a look at our work? Haha, cheers mate!
More updates coming soon folks![]()

holy crap dude so much stuff! TAD is really whipping you into place, i really like what you are doing with your edges but i think you saturate your colours a bit too much? i dont know, its just that i feel that something is off but i dont have the enough knowledge to point it out exactly either way keep this up im sure this will take you to bigger heights! dont give up you have talent man you just need to expand that talent to other areas![]()

lionheartGFX - Thank you! You are so right man. Color is one area I'm still pretty weak in. I do tend to go a bit more saturated than usual. Something that must be rectified.

i really love how you identified the different kinds of composition and applied them, i guess i have to study them too.
dude mad reff images in here, they are really well organized and thought out, also i love the storyboards i think you could use some notations on camera movements and angles, check out ryan woodward http://ryanwoodwardart.com/ he posted some story boards for a zombie advertisement and in there he fully uses arrows and frames to point out how the camera and flow of the scene is portrayed, still yours are super sweet i hope you keep on improving them!
cheers!

Hey!!! Thank you so much for stopping by my sketchbook!!! Yea line weight is still a big issue for me as well as design. I need to start using some more references hahahah I dont have much in my head right now in terms of Visual libray i guess you would say. Thanks also for the tips on line weight, i will try to look into trying out some of the stuff you mentioned. If you ever have any other advice on that subject let me know. Always wanting to do some drawings like that shipping container you did. And man!! TAD would be great to go to. I applied there a few months ago and got the 25% scholarship but just cant afford the 500 a month right now. Hopefully soon i will be able to aford it and get to go. Would be great for my training. But back to your sketchbook! Not much to say in terms of improvment, you seem to have a grasp on the proper path to take to get better. I can tell your a master in the makes and not far from it at all. Keep up the great work and thanks for posting your awesome studies, im learning alot just by looking at them!!!![]()
Awesome sketchbook. You're working pretty damn hardNot much else to say than, keep it up.
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthr...oy-called-Papu <-- Sketchbook :=)
Joe777k7 - You're welcome! Thanks for dropping by mine! I hope you do end up getting to go to TAD, it's been an amazing experience and you'd learn. That's pretty rad that you got the 25% scholarship! I'm sorry to hear that you cant afford. You can definitely still learn and do well for yourself on your own. It's just a matter of being connected, being informed, and constant practice. You seem to be doing well as far as I can tell.
Papu - Thank you!
Here's some of the studies I did this week (all from reference).
Figure Drawing - Almost all were 1 min. Some were 3 mins.
Figure Painting - 3 mins each.
Head Drawing - 3 mins each.
Mechanical - WIP
Still Life

the tread systems on your mechanical WIP feel a bit weird, the areas where each tread would join to another with pins feel a bit funny and or non functional. Last but not least they are also missing an end cap or an area for the tread to be turned by the drive wheel. These things can be forsaken in the pursuit of design, but the design must stand up. lots of studies in here too, man! good stuff!
-Alex
These are really great mate!!! Great studies and the improvement is amazing. You are doing great!!!
CheckBiomechawolf
Really good stuff man! Don't stop!
the last still life artwork (bananas) was just amazing!
Also the post were you were posting the camera angles was more than educational and thank you for that![]()
