Color palette

I'm trying to create a color palette for a picture. Unfortunately, I'm inexperienced with color, so I have a hard time seeing how they interact.

The colors in the picture below seem like they work to me (individually and as a palette), but I'm worried that I'm missing something. Are there any major problems with this color palette that I should know about? Clashes, muddy colors, something else that I'm not aware of...?

PC945 Sienna Brown

PC903 True Blue
PC992 Light Aqua
Colorless blender, pencil version (already used in the palette below)

colored pencil is a bad choice for learning about mixing color as you don't really mix it. I would suggest digital or paint where shifting hue and chroma becomes a lot easier

Unfortunately, it will be a while before I can afford a tablet, and my wrists hurt pretty badly when I try to use my laptop's touchpad to color. I'll consider that when I start to study color more seriously, though.

EDIT: I do have a few old acrylics: Raw umber, cobalt blue, dioxazine purple, payne's gray, and titanium white. I'll also see if I have an actual mouse lying around.

EDIT2: I do have a mouse. My screen is still a laptop screen, but I could create a desktop-computer-like setup otherwise.

You might want to give some more detail about what you're trying to do...I, at least, can't really tell from your description or the image you posted what your goal is here.

I'll edit the first post to make it more clear.

I'm trying to see whether the colors in the image make a pleasing color palette for a picture done in colored pencil. I can't see the "muddy" colors that everyone seems to talk about, so I wanted to run the colors by other people. I also can't see how colors interact yet, so I want to make sure that there's no weird optical illusions that I'm not aware of.

No weird optical illusions....however, until we've seen the actual picture it's hard to say how well the palette is working, or what you're trying to do. There's no such thing as a "right" or "wrong" palette.

I confess I'm not exactly sure what the grid you posted above is supposed to be for, unless it's to prove to yourself that it's possible to create neutral tones by mixing complementary hues.

That's kindof reassuring!

The grid was to test the colored pencils to see what different combinations create before I try to mix them on the actual image. The results can be hard to predict, so I worked up the chart and posted it to see if anyone thought that the combinations made mud. I just can't tell yet.

The actual picture is a pair of friends walking on the beach in the afternoon. I won't be using every color on that grid; I just haven't picked which colors/values go where. In a way, I'll be treating the grid like a pre-mixed palette: when I need a medium brown, I'll select the one that I want.

Best way, with colored pencils, to determine how the colors will interact is to test out the main colors and try mixing them in varying combinations and ways before actually committing to the image. Just from seeing the small swatches of color it's difficult to see how they'll interact.
