lovely gestures i really like how you focused on drapery, the fods are done very nicely i wish you added some shadow information just for practice, great stuff as of late, that neighbour drawing shows proper fundations i would love to see some compositions and atleast small pieces! dont uderestimate the small sketchhope to see more focused studies soon and pieces too! good luck and keep it up aks9!

Yemi: yeh, i'm actually sort of blown away by how much the life drawing is helping. to anyone who isn't doing it yet... do it, the fact that the models move forces you to consider what is most important to represent a form, that you simply can't get in the same way when copying a photo. plus the infinite variety of life.

its so jarring and uncomfortable to see the difference in quality between the figure stuff and my prev still life studies. but it corresponds well to the areas i've been focusing on, i couldn't expect anything else

I starting reading Harold Speeds "Oil Painting Techniques and Materials". My first impression is that this is a goldmine of knowledge about how to approach learning how to paint and think about painting, not just a manual about the mechanics of oil paint. Stuff about form, light, colour, and how to think about it all. Wish I started reading this earlier.
