Spire Book - Wanting to Learn Environments

    Hi all,
I would Like to join this mass void of great artists, students and the like. As is said many many times, there's some super art here. Ideally I would like to learn how to paint environments. A little shy to share my work, but this is my start.

    Peace.

Nice start to your sketchbook. I really like the first one. As I'm sure you already know, just keep practicing. Work a lot from references and from life. One of the best ways to help with colors is to go out and paint from life using traditional mediums like watercolor, acrylics, or oils. I'm a big fan of painting en plein air with oils.

    Keep it up!

this is nice man, dont be shy just post it or you cant get better! my advice, keep going with those black and white thumbs there rockin'! and look up atmopheric perspective, thats one thing you need in enviroments which you havnt looked into.

    keep going

Looks like a good start so far! What i find very useful is doing a lot of the small thumbnails like the last images you posted. Work with these to quickly figure out good compositions and lighting.
If you can't go paint outside, do photo studys. Possibly it's not everyone's thing, but i learned so much from it.
Here's some reading for you in case you didn't already know these. Don't undervalue the importance of basics like composition, color, perspective.

i also think you have a good start here!!I mostly like the first ones and the last thumbnail sketches.Maybe use less white inside the thumbnails to be able to use white for some general highlights or doing strong contrast shapes(not sure though)
Definitely keep up understanding good composition and color. On the side of studying ref images, do a deeper research on them trying to group shapes/masses and in general doing a simpifying in your mind, in order to better understand the elements of a work. The more you understand them, the more flexible you will be working wth them
    keep it up !!!

    Oatestwder - Thank alot

aiRaGe - Thanks for the advice and the links. I will check them out.

kingkostas - Thanks for stopping by to drop me some advice.

    It's all much appreciated guys

Here's today...a two and a half hour trial and error process. I'm doing all this in my spare time from work, so I'll do what I can. Hopefully start to show improvement.

Oooh, you're definetly off to a good start!
I've never really tried getting into environments myself, but i'm sure if produced something half as good as the things i'm seeing here, I'd feel pretty smug about myself!

Keep up the good work, there'll be masterpieces in no time

hey hey hey! thats more like it, im liking that atmospheric perspective, much better. better colours too.
Only huge hole i can see is that the doorway has lights streaming through it but is casting no shadow, that looks really odd, and the pillars should have shadows too.

    but nice!

hello mate.Nice one again, but are u sure about the pillars? They look the same size even when they go into the depth.I cant see the perspective working on them.Play a little with them till you feel a force moving toward the depth.
    keep it up!!!

    Hello!
Great work so far,I really love the enviros, mostly the colours on the first and last one,but everything is fine here! One crit:on the last one,the pillars are a bit repetitive, but apart from that,I love it!
    Keep it up!

Sulpher - That's quite a compliment, even though I have many many things to learn. Thank you.

    in2eternity - Thank you.

Oatestwder - Thanks for the crit. I'll remember for the future. Nice of you to point it out Cheers.

kingkostas - you're right about the pillars. The image isn't quite working there. I doubt I will correct this image. But as I like the idea and mood I may do another that could be better. Thanks for the info and I'll refer to your advice. Many cheers

DSmith - Thank you very much

Been at work today so I haavn't had much chance. But here's today's crap...Not happy, it looks like a half arsed job. I must try harder....

nice mate.in these thumbnails you seem to use atmospheric perspective better.
Maybe place the vanishing point a little more towards the center.only a little more
    keep up the good work

V nice just minor lighting issues, the front og the shed should be darker than the side and on the tree in the midground the green looks lighter than the brown, it should be the other way if the light source is from the left

Thank you for the nice comment.
I think you show some talent here so I hope you keep working at it.
If I could offer something, the tree framing right in post 17 is not parallel with the other trees.
