I didnt realize it was page 2! woo well more anatomy studies! a sleepless night-.-
the bridgeman stuff is definitely improving. biggest advice would probably be working on facial structure. remember that areas like the lips and nose wrap AROUND the front of the muzzle of the skull (thats right, we have a very small muzzle, its not just a flat plane). Also I notice you're not giving your profiles enough of a forehead, which can often be fixed by reworking the size of the eyes (smaller). Other than that pretty good job
really small update. not much to show upload some anatomy tomorrow!
Long hiatus but I have been drawing still heres some stuff from today and the other night. To lazy to load all my stuff -.-
drawings for today....
alright not much today, just showing my process of drawing a face more or less.....
a new drawing/painting guy in progress that I will work on over next few days and probably later on tonight....about an hour in
Hey, whats up? Nice stuff so far! I look forward to watching you progress!
new drawing.....couldnt figure out what to do with the other guy so im starting out with a new guy.
If I may make a suggestion Jeff. The guy in your second to last post looks really stiff. Next time you go out, check out how people are standing around and you might notice that they don't look very static even when still. Weight might rest more on one leg, shoulders might be slumped, leaning back, etcetc.
Sooo yeah, try to incorporate some of what you see, and you should notice a bit more life in your work, which should allow you to overcome minor road blocks like not knowing what to do with an image. For example, the image I mentioned above. His posture looks like he's rather bored and just standing around, but then why would he have his sword drawn? Perhaps a different pose for him might be something to try?
My ramblings aside, you're coming along great, keep up the work!
Thanks for the critique Radicou! I will definitely incorporate that into my art! my intro to figure drawing this fall should help out a lot with that too? Anyways another update on the piece. I kind of like how this piece is coming along.
When it comes to your digital work, try a basic hard round brush out for size and max out the opacity, blocking in values and forms before blending. Your paintings currently suffer from a softness that kills their contrast. So harden up! There's so much potential in what you're doing already, and your Bridgeman's are verra nice. Have you looked into Loomis's book on facial structure? That may help as well.
Thanks for the advice and kind words. little bit on the piece plus took a break and started on another piece, using opacity at 100. I totally forgot about loomis I will definitely do some face studies!
Gah......warrior looking guy
